The last time we squared off against the Dallas Stars, things were just a tad rocky (for the sake of this ill-advised metaphor reference the 2006 reality show featuring Lukas Rossi).
Marty Turco was last in the league in nearly every conceivable goaltending category, while Mike Modano was citing embarrassment at the idiocy on the ice; the Dallas Stars were, for all intents and purposes, on the verge of coming apart.
[Editor's Note]: Remember your SPG Picks for a chance to win a Sharks Banner courtesy of Carrol's Cove.
Then the unthinkable happened. Captain Brenden Morrow out for the year with a torn ACL (oh that guy- and here I almost forgot about him). Steve Ott goes down for a month. The Dallas Morning News questions team chemistry.
Basically, Dallas looks like this:
So just what caused the season's first quarter meltdown? Is this a case of Sean Avery's inclusion into the roster, or was last year's playoff run a classic case of a team getting hot at the right time? Is Marty Turco's career .913 save percentage misleading, or is this year's .871 turd an aberration? Will Sergei Zubov or Mike Modano be dealt to a team trying to add some veteran pop at the deadline? Can Brett Hull be trusted to turn the team around when he's been caught lying on national television? Will Dallas fans start booing the word "star" during their pre-game anthem?
Tune in tonight to find out.
Prediction: Sharks win 3-1. Goals by Gooch, Clowe, and Patty. Sean Avery ponders why he left Vogue, eventually purchasing a Judy of his own to ease his troubles.
Go Sharks.

It's going to be a battle
Despite his struggles, Turco always seems to up his game when facing the Sharks. It will probably be a one goal decision, again. GO SHARKS GO!

Tonight
I won’t be in attendance for the live game thread because I’ll be traveling with the family. However, I will get a chance to see the game later tonight so I’ll probably discuss the game after Mr. K’s wrap up.
Hold down the fort for me folks. I hope idunno723 gets the chance to show off his goal-horning skills around 8 o’clock.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Go Sharks.

Goal-Horning
It’s a hard job. I can’t do it tonight because I will with my family. I shall pass on the honor to someone else. If you don’t know where the link is look at this comment because it is bad luck to Goal-Horn without an actual win (thats just one of the few unwritten Goal-Horning rules, like Goal-Horning needs to be capitalized).
and we re-gain it again!! :)
yes I’m talking to myself.

nice first period
I’d like to see the Sharks hit double digits on Turco tonight – maybe 12-1 Sharks, yeaaah

I realize the Stars are having bad luck this season, but I feel no sympathy for them. Does that make me a bad person?? :)

No, not at all
It makes you a homer, but not a bad person.

Do they think that will help them?

Naked pictures or something?
What the hell does Turco have over this team? Why is he their starter? The guy couldn’t stop a beach ball, and then blames his D. He’s played bad enough to give Stephan a chance, and so far he’s played well enough to earn a start. If Turco is in goal for their next game, the whole coaching staff not only needs to go, but needs to have their heads examined.
can you jinx him a few more times? tho 6 is my fave number.

So much for my initial prediction that it would be a 1-goal game
Happy to be wrong

We need to win by 6 so they can make it up to you!

Damn it refs!
As if he wasn’t depressed enough already, now Brad losses his bid to be PIM-less this season. 15 seconds left, and you couldn’t let that one slide?
Oh, and w00t! Sharks!
Thanks for holding down the fort!
