So

Does anyone believe that DW is blowing smoke and he intends to bring Lemeiux up? Or is he being honest.

by Dave Valentine on Dec 29, 2008 2:55 PM PST reply actions

I think he intends on bringing him up eventually

But he is not blowing smoke. Just does not want to get everyone all excited about it if he gets picked up off of waivers before the deal is done.

I used to be on the other side of the aisle (didn’t think he had a shot at making the big club), but now I’m in your corner. He’s coming. The only question is when.

BWAHAHA

You have joined us on the dark side of the aisle, Jason… Now that Claude has cleared waivers, it IS just a matter of WHEN.

(Should we have a poll?) My vote’s for Jan. 17 against Detroit – nothing like testing the waters early in the regular season, when there’s considerably less to lose. If Lemieux looks bad, well – lesson learned. If he looks GOOD, well – we’ll still tread cautiously, but that’s one hell of a card up our sleeve.

Could it be that Lemeiux is...

Shelley insurance? If Shelley g(God forbid) gets injured, we’d be missing that physical presence that is so important to a cup contender. If he’s skating well, I’d rather go into the playoffs with Claude+Experience than Staubitz+Youthful Exuberance.

Staubitz

Will not be coming back unless the injury bug goes on a full-tilt, no-holds-barred destructive tear… I just knocked on wood. I’ve been wrong before, but I agree that if Shelley gets injured, it’ll be Claude that we call up, not Staubitz.
