Big honor for Little Joe - hopefully the Saturday ceremony won't deter him from catching The Gooch at the All-Star festivities... quite a day!

ALSO = Derek Joslin was reassigned to Worcester.

On the reassignment of Joslin...

I suppose this means the return of Blake – which means the return of shot-happy D.

Most likely yes...

But I would hope this means that Joslin was sent back so that he can both play through the break and also play in the AHL all star game. He’s a starter.

In all honesty, I would rather have Joslin as our 7th defenseman (sorry, Alexei). I’m hoping that he’s included on our playoff roster. I’ve been really impressed by him so far.

A-ha

Thank you for pointing out the obvious – you can’t play in the AHL All-Star Game if you’re currently in the NHL.

I like Joslin too – though I’m becoming more appreciative of Semenov. He had a fantastic pass to (I think – my notes are at home) Joe Pavelski, though Luongo ended any potential point-age for Alexei.

And as a forward – his bear-wrestling fighting style was… not without success.

I agree K- Semmy has played pretty well at D since he got moved back from forward. He doesn’t look like he’s trying to avoid making a mistake anymore, instead letting the play come to him and taking some chances with his breakout passes. Our little boy is all growns ups apparently.

Word up on Blake coming back. Also, don’t forget that the less time the AHL players spend on the roster is less money they count against the cap. If DW is even considering making a deadline deal with the Sharks current cap, these six days will help that much more.

Oh, and that whole Pavelski jersey thing is cool too.

About the deadline deal

Do you really thing we need to make that deal? If so, where do we need the help? Who would you trade for? and who would you trade?

Oh definitely- it was more of a general comment that sending Joslin is freeing up cap space for any future move, not really a call for that specific move (as well as making room for Blake, letting Derek play in the AHL ASG etc.)

If I would make a move, it would be to get a depth player. But JR and Mitchell are coming back, Lemieux is looking good thus far- there’s really no need for it.

But let’s say someone is fighting an injury in February and we do need to make a move. The cap space saved by Joslin getting sent down only opens up more opportunities.

Agreed

I really don’t see DW looking at making one of those blockbuster trade deadline deals this year. In fact with Mitchell (hopefully) and JR due back soon, I see us being pretty set. Of course anything can happen in the next 60 days, (knock on wood).
