Yesterday, on the internet, I found this thing called My Sharks History on Fear the Fin. I thought, man thats really corny. As I started reading them, I found them quite interesting and I slowly remembered how I became a San Jose Sharks fan.
My Sharks History probably started when I was 3 or 4. My dad took me took a Sharks game (and of course I don't know who they played) and I instantly like it. At my next birthday party I had a Sharks cake. I remember saying how I wanted to be a hockey player, and a dentist (dentist because I thought dentists were the coolest for giving me prizes). For a long time my favorite two teams were the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Mighty Ducks. While that might not make sense I have my reasons. The Sharks had an awesomely cool logo, and that Mighty Duck cartoon was the best. Eventually my hockey phase went away.
About 2 years ago, at my middle school I remember someone writing something on the white board. It was the box score of the Sharks vs. Red Wings games. Since at the time writing anything on the white board was cool, I wrote right next to it, "Nobody cares about hockey."
Now at that time I was primarily a baseball fan. My favorite team is the Oakland A's. I was never really exposed to hockey before. I thought hockey was lame because Canadians liked it. It makes sense after watching A LOT of South Park. South park made Canada seem like a not-so-fun-place.
Oddly enough, about a few hours after the "Nobody cares about hockey" incidence my older sister (not WhosYourNabby?) asked me, "Hey, do you wanna go to a Sharks game!" I thought I might as well go because she already bought the tickets. When I got home from the game my thoughts were: It was more fun than I thought it would be, but not as fun as I would like because there were no fights, and the Sharks lost. (looking back I realize that it was the Sharks being eliminated in the playoffs against the Red wings)
The following summer, I had more of an opened mind to hockey but I wasn't the biggest Sharks fan. Later when the season started my older sister announced, "HEY, I got Sharks season tickets!" I thought, "wow what a waste of money." Turns out I went to a few games and started getting into it. After witnessing J.R.'s 500th goal game I started watching every game (once I learned of streaming games). I read articles after articles about the Sharks so I could learn more. As the season went on I became knowledgeable about the current Shark team.
That is how I became a San Jose Sharks fan.
Hmm... it seems WhosYourNabby? wants to make this a dual edition. I think she thought we would have a similar Sharks History but not so much. I will try to explain her Sharks history in first person.
My AMAZING brother was watching a San Jose Sharks game against the Pittisburg Penguinos when I noticed a HOT guy. His name was Sidney Crosby. I started watching the Shark games, mostly for the players. I started to develop a strong liking for Joe Pavelski because he is soooooooo cute. My heart was crushed a few months ago when I found out he was married. Oh yeah, I learned about the Sharks by watching the games (for the players)
By the way, my sister is gonna be really REALLY mad at me for writing that mostly non-fictitious tale.
Almost forgot: GOOOOO SHARKS!!!
