Off the Post - October 14th
- Plank debates the Western Conference Regular Season Champions banner, which has split the FTF community almost cleanly in two.
- Anaheim Calling has officially entered the SBN universe, and Earl Sleek of Battle of California provides a little Q & A for Arthur and Daniel.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs are still winless after losing to Colorado (that Darcy Tucker...), their teal-bred goaltender is injured (update - here's the "real story"), and some coach named Ron is under premature attack.
- [UPDATE] - Behind the Net has a couple "Do the Leafs suck" articles - and this is a statistics oriented site, people!
- The Buffalo Sabres do us all a favor by defeating (nay - pounding) the Detroit Red Wings for the first time since 2002; unfortunately, the win came at the loss of sniper Thomas Vanek, who will be out "weeks."
- The Sharks plan for their "business trip" to the East Coast for 6 straight games.
- Drew pesters Dan Boyle with 20 questions - worth the look.
- The Sharks' next game is Thursday in D.C., and with that in mind, here are 3 problems with the Washington Capitals.
- Chris Chelios won't rest until he's back in the NHL, even if all 30 teams have said "no."
- Dany Heatley was named the NHL's first star last week - TSN users offer fine words of encouragement.
- [UPDATE, 4:45pm] = Ask Manny Malhotra that burning question that troubles your soul.
- [UPDATE, 4:55pm] = The New York Islanders / Charles Wang / Town of Hempstead / Gary Bettman (I dunno, just seems right to list him) have abandoned the Lighthouse Project. Kansas City, here we come...

Me on Toronto Maple Leafs
“I can’t say I was rooting against them, although there was a part of me that was,” said idunno723. “To be perfectly honest with you, though, I did feel good when they failed miserably in opening their season.”

If I haven't said it before
I love this segment. Thanks for putting everything together for us Conico.
Seriously, I think all of us were thinking that when Murray scored three goals. I stepped in my doomsday bomb shelter for a while…

We do all appreciate it, Dustin.

Depends. If they hover around a 25% winning percentage, he probably doesn’t last all season. Anything over that, I’d assume he’s safe.

Haha
“At what age should kids start dating?”
“Seven.”
And then of course, the disaster on ice that is the Leafs is always fun to watch. The best part about it is that they don’t even have tanking to fall back on, since they traded away their first round picks.

Speaking of the Night At The Tank...
what section have you guys purchased tickets for again? Going to see if I can purchase tickets myself that night.
Now, you can follow my uninteresting life on Twitter.

God, I know we’re in the upper deck, but I don’t have the tickets on me right now. I’ll let you know as soon as I get home.

IIRC, section 215. I used a lottery pick to get tickets to that game, but I’m in a different section. Can you check on the row/rows?

Editing note
Sorry all the links are on the front page, and none are after the jump – SBN is having a hiccup right now on the story structuring (at least on my computer…). This should be fixed shortly.

I couldn’t log in all day? I was just now able to feed my FTF fix….I blame the new Duck’s blog…

Yeah, they’re currently working on the issue. It’s been spotty all across the board.
Blame the Ducks new blog though. I know I did.

That's terrible about the Islanders.
But there still seem to be some options elsewhere on the Island where the could play. I’m hoping that they stay in New York, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

So this probably belongs in the OT fanpost
and i doubt anyone’s even on here but my beloved Ticos are playing the US right now for a spot in the World Cup and we’re up 2-0 at halftime. I know probably 99.9% are either cheering for the US or don’t care at all but it doesn’t feel right to be sweating out a must-win and not be on FTF.
Btw, the US already qualified so if they lose it’s not a big deal. Don’t hate on the foreign guy.

True
It is a pretty awesome place… So I’ve heard… But I also heard that it is not conducive to the “sweatingly” (not a word) challenged. hahah.. Just giving an FYI.
