I kinda take back the good Washington announcers thing I said earlier. Their color guy just said he’d never seen an NHL defense use the “I” formation before, as if he thought Huskins meant to get out of position and blow the coverage. Yikes, giving a little too much credit to the Caps’ team speed and not any to the lack of positioning of the Sharks D on that first Ovie goal
Meh. I think he was pointing out the breakdown, and to be honest AO did catch. I’m not totally going to bat for him because he is definitely hit or miss but he’s by no means among the worst around. I’d say they are probably top-middle of the pack.

It’s only really dangerous in about two areas that I know of – Anacostia and Northwest or Northeast. Basically, no where anyone would go unless they lived there. I go up and walk around at night and don’t really feel endangered. And trust me when I say DC Cops – hardcore. You do not want to wake up in a DC Prison.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
Northeast is the worse area but there are even bad spots in NW. There is still random crime in nice places like Georgetown but that stuff gets overplayed. The gentrification is under way so the reputation won’t fit in a decade or so.

I hate to say it
but we look like an awful team so far. We’re getting dismantled on D, can’t carry though the neutral zone, and most of our shots have been weak dump-ins. This is a terrible team to watch play tonight. They better get their shit together soon
And if this is how we look on our first game of the roadtrip, I’m terrified to see how we look around game 4 or 5…

sorry man,
just a fan, and all i have is my eyes. my opinion (although impaired) seems to be that when these guys “care” their play is demonstrably different.
marleau seems to care.

Nichol, Demers, & Ferriero
Are the Sharks that have looked best to me tonight. They haven’t always made the strongest plays, but they have rushed to every single puck. They haven’t given up, like Clowe and Thornton seemed to back in the second period.
This has been a disappointing game, but I’m really liking Ferriero.

… my fault here. Left work early because I was sick, got a cough and a fever. Last time I was sick was back in April – right around when the Sharks-Ducks series started. I promise not to get sick during hockey season again. ;(

Can we just hit the reset button and start the season over?
Not liking what I’m seeing so far. We’ve scored first once in 7 games, we have 2 first period goals in 7 games, our Dmen are missing assignments left and right, and we’re having a hell of a time staying out of the box.
This game reminded me of Game 4 in Anaheim, which I never wanted to think about again. I’ll stay optimistic and patient with this team, mostly because they’re still trying to figure out some things. Also, seeing what teams like Anaheim, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis did at the end of last season, I’m not worried about October. I’d just like to see some more wins and solid 60 minute efforts from this talented squad.

Thumbs down to the Sharks shooting themselves in the foot with too many penalties that damn near killed the momentum of the game and didn’t allow the 1st line to assert themselves for the rest of the game.
Also blowing too many defensive assignments.
Finally, getting outhustled and outworked to loose pucks. And let us never mention the powerplay…
