Around SBN: The Pros and Cons of an 18-game NFL Schedule

Okay soccer isn't my sport. Have hated it with a passion since I was a kid. Long ugly story that I wont' go into. But ... this is the World Cup. And even tho it is Oakland, let's support the Bay Area bringing the World Cup here huh?

So hop over to the link and sign the damn petition! Please also pass it around.

You can read more about it here as well.

I’m sure Oakland must have a plan if they are even asking to be in the line-up. (shrugs) But I see that as problem #2 … #1 is getting them on the list of cities to consider in the U.S.

Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality? (boycott Hollywood!)

Assuming they mean the Coliseum...

I gotta vote no on that one. Too many better venues out there to watch a game.

The US could host the 2018 World Cup and use none of the venues they used in 1994, then turn around and host in 2022 and use none of the ones used in 1994 or 2018. With all the new NFL venues opened since then, I’d think the Coliseum would be waaaayyyy down the list.

New Stanford or the new 49ers place (if it happens)…maybe

Unlike the Olympics

World Cups are hosted by nations, not by cities. I’m not exactly sure what this is, but Oakland can’t bet he host of the world cup.

I think this is a petition to use Oakland Coliseum as a stadium if they were to bring the World Cup back to the US

upon further examination, it seems to be a petition seeking to include Oakland as one of the cities in the overall USA bid for the World Cup. You can also petition for San Francisco. http://www.gousabid.com/city/local/san-francisco-ca

That's what I thought!

In which case, I say no to an Oakland World Cup stadium bid. The coliseum may not even be there in 2018!

even if the USA were to host the world cup

i would think they would choose more resonable, bigger and better (not to mention safer) sights.

dallas cowboys stadium
seattle seahawks/sounders stadium (it get pretty frickin loud in there)
the rose bowl
