Once again I am blacked out of this game, I demand the kings not suck and play WATCHABLE basketball in return for this horrible crime.

On a side note…anyone get COD:MW2 today? Man, I am enjoying the hell out of that game before all all the loudmouth 8-13 year olds get it for Christmas!

Saving my cash for L4D2 next week, but COD does look solid.

…but I’m waiting for New Super Mario Bros. Wii and God of War Collection.
Really digging how they’re showing the anthem tonight. That’s one thing I always enjoy about Canadian broadcasts.
Woooooooooooo get it done.

I'm here!
Let out of French early. I’d like to think it’s because there was a game tonight.
And, like always, Sharks can score now, and I hate how Gamecenter picked up Nashville’s feed. The play-by-play guy does not know anybody’s name. I was watching the game with the epic Staubitzing earlier today, and the Nashville guy said it was McGinn who was squaring off with Tootoo.

Tell me about it
I’m also having to endure the shitty Nashville feed. Randy and Drew these guys ain’t…
Have you been keeping track of the ratio? It seems like it’s been at least 2:1 bad guys.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
Seeing how I’ve commented about it in every GDT I’ve been in so far, I could probably go back and check to get the exact ratio.
But I’m sure that the other feeds outnumber the Sharks feed. Haven’t heard Randy and Drew much this season.

You should track that and then post a FAQ on Fools and Sages for out of town Sharks fans who might be considering picking up the online version next season.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
Oooh, good idea
I could probably also check the archives for which version Gamecenter chose to store – I’ve found that it also favors the other feed.

Things We Learned This Period
1) Plank has blacked out postseason memories.
2) Greiss likes to aggressively challenge shooters, to the point where I start perspiring every time the puck goes to the point. He might need to tone it down a bit, because that backdoor is going to be there against better teams.
3) Pavelski is back to 100%.
4) Fourth line can grind out a great cycle.
5) Plank is an idiot.

GM Meetings
I guess the “UFC Tactics” used by Staubitz on Tootoo last year were brought up in the GM meetings, Nashville claimed he used forearms to hit tootoo
They were whining about that last season after the game. Key word is “whining.”
Cleanest ass whooping I’ve ever seen.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
Yup
I heard about that in the aftermath of the fight. Whether he did or didn’t I’m 100% sure it wasn’t intentional.
The only reason he might have hit Tootoo with his elbows was because he was following through on his punches.
They’re just butt-hurt that Staubitz beat Tootoo down that bad.

no other instance that I could think of where they should recognize when a coach can throw in the towel. Even E.T. couldn’t fix Tootoo up after that fight.

The View from the Top of 221
Sloppy period, IMO. Passing needs to be crisper, and to Sharks players ideally. The Pavs goal was pretty sick, tho. Staubitz needs to destroy Tootoo again. Oh, and the kid behind me keeps kicking the back of my seat. I might need to break someone’s foot. :-/

Commerical on the Pred feed
“I will help heal broken bones, even for Sharks. I will care for joints and muscles and pain, even for Blackhawks. I will offer my knowledge and skill, and my compassion, to each and everyone. Even to Red Wings. Every day, regardless of Western Conference standings, I will offer exceptional care to those in need.”
I’m kind of amazed that they consider the Sharks to be such a huge rival that they’re listed first out of three. I don’t think the Preds are even in the top 5 on my list of rivals. Maybe not even top 10.

Would you rather be at a nail-biter game or a blow-out game?
If you’re name was Tootoo would your number be 22?
Depends on who wins. Because if the Sharks don’t, then I’d rather be at a nailbiter. If they do, then I don’t really care, because they win and that’s always fun.
I was about to comment about the second one, but then I realized how tasteless it would be, and so I decided not to. Just to let everyone know.

First, the good news. I laid down the law on the little kid behind me and seat kicking has been minimal. The other good news, of course, is that it was nice to see the 4th line chipping in with a goal.
The passing still looks off though. And, I dunno, things are just kinda meh this game all around. Hopefully the Sharks come out with some jump in the 3rd!

He got it when Blake went down.
The significance is that throwing him under the bus should never be done again.

2nd star should be pavs

pavs should be all 3 stars
even when he doesn’t play

I thought Greiss really bailed us out a lot tonight, but I see what you’re saying.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
I didn’t really think Greiss was the second star, I thought he had a good game, maybe let in one softie.
That was a screen by his own player though (if we’re thinking of the same one).
He didn’t look excellent, but he kept us in it at the end of the game. I’m not adverse to giving him a star.

It’s definitely an option, but I say no. Maybe the Sharks win 6-3 if you’re here.

I think we got 1000 comments on a non playoff thread before.
But yeah this is odd, considering it is a Tuesday.

Take slow and overrated Bouwmeister instead.

All I can do during post game player interviews is look for jock straps in the background. Nichol’s doing a good job of blocking his with his head. /obvioussexjokehere

calls for a new poll: Nichol's nickname
1. Nichol City
2. Jockblock

I like nichol city
but i’d be honored if an observation of mine inspired a nickname as awesome as jockblock.

but let me assure you, it was not pretty in person.
It was, however, a win.

It was not pretty on TV, either. Well, except for Pavs’s goal. That was pretty.

Just rewatched the highlights
The look on Ellis’s face when he realizes he gave up that 4th goal is so depressing.
Of course it makes me smile, but I can totally understand how he’d be crushed by it.
Not pretty at all.
But woohoo Boyle.

just saw the game highlights on SportsCenter - ahh, the simple pleasures of life

Since when do they have hockey highlights on SportsCenter?
Or are you Canadian and did you mean SportsCentre?
On Greiss
I really think that he can be a #1 goalie in the NHL, at least at “good Toskala” level, probably better, likely a Dwayne Roloson/Turco level starter. I’m not sure where people’s completely irrational hatred is coming from.
The Sharks’ goalie of the future seems to be Alex Stalock. He’s supposed to be crazy good down in Worcester, plausibly good enough to be in the NHL next year, but Greiss is a more than adequate goalie for what’s supposed to be an elite group of skaters.
I thought he played very solid tonight.
Gave up a lot of rebounds, but was able to make saves on those rebounds (except for a couple of somewhat flukey goals). And, he is inexperienced at the NHL level and these mistakes will be corrected. When he flashed the leather towards the end of the first period, I was amazed, one of the best saves of the season.

You’re evaluating him based on how many games?
Even one full NHL season won’t tell us how good or bad he really is.
I’m evaluating him based on his physical abilities and style. His mental makeup and other similar issues come into play obviously won’t be noticeable for a while. However, he was quite clutch in the W-Sharks playoffs, and I see no reason as to why he can’t be a number 1 goaltender. He definitely has the talent. That’s all I’m saying right now; we won’t learn any more without giving him a chance. That’s why I find it odd and somewhat offensive (in the sense of, if you’re a Sharks fan why would your not want your goalie to succeed) that people are actively rooting against him.
