been a Bears fan since I was little, but I like the 49ers too… usually not a problem since they don’t play more than once a year and it’s been ages since they met in the playoffs (a product of neither team going to the playoffs very much, sadly)

Second time in a row where my French teacher let us out 30 minutes early on a game night. I think she’s a secret Sharks fan.
And for those keeping score at home: Gamecenter has the Stars feed, so boo for not having Randy and Drew. Although, they are above average announcers, so it’s nothing like being stuck with the Detroit or Columbus announcers.
Also, Sharks can score now and all that jazz.

Either the guy who starts the fight is wearing a visor, or one guy completely mugs the other guy.
I think that penalty can also be called if someone starts a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game, but I’m not sure.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure skating while holding the puck is against the rules, even for goalies. So the play should have been whistled dead. But it’s Turco, so he has special rules.

But offense outside of Gore looked bad. Alex Smith in particular (and I don’t like dumping on the guy). But when pressure came, he tended to stay in the pocket in panic mode looking for a receiver (and getting sacked), instead of running out to throw it away.

I am going to hammer this until everyone in the Bay including the real sharks understand this.
Pavs..Marleau…Heatley….Everytime…Everynight…If you want to go to the silly stats which are irrelevant…then at 4,5,6… Seto…Boyle…Clowe…etc. (Any order by the way – that should be the only discussion) The stats are irrelevant because every shootout is independent of the other. What you do 1 night against one goalie is completely irrelevent the next night against a different goalie. You must have your best goal scorers out there everytime! They give you what? Oh yeah…The best chance to score! New nickname for TM… “McBlockhead” Maybe the Tank will start selling those cheesehead type hats in the shape of a block? They can even put the letters C O A C H on the sides. One caveat though…if a player is on fire in that specific game ie. 2 or more goals…then coach could justify going with the hot hand if he chooses to switch it up slightly. What do you think?
I think the numbers
For the shootout speak far differently than what you think.
Many of the best goal scorers in the league are terrible in the shootout, as the numbers bear out.
Some of the best are hardly known. Pavelski has been solid, though he’s fallen off a little. Same with Wolski in Colorado, also not a big goal scorer in regular season.
Being able to score in the shootout has very little to do with all of the skills required to score goals while other skaters are on the ice.

One of the Stars’ goals was a joke, and I don’t really think they let up in the 3rd so much as the Stars got better and they weren’t completely prepared for it. Considering that this is the first loss of any kind from them I’ve seen all year, I can take it. I hope Demers doesn’t beat himself up too badly over that goal. In the SO, Pavs had a lot of room, but just missed. Vesce had Turco beat too, oh well, nerves probably didn’t help. Marleau seemed a little more hesitant about using his speed today, trying to pass when he probably could have blown by the dman. I hope he isn’t playing hurt. Boyle had over 30 minutes of ice time today. I thought McGinn deserved some more ice time too with his performance against the Predators. I hope we don’t wear him down too much with Blake gone. Joslin looked much better than in the game against the Preds. Vlasic’s shots look so much better this year. He still can’t get a good slapshot off to save his life. But his wrist shots are much quicker and he has a pretty good release. I thought he and Joslin complemented each other pretty well.

Okay game at best.
Sharks played very well for the first forty, but just lost the game on a fluke goal and a goal Nabokov should have had. Pavs should have had that goal, and Vesce too, but it was his first shootout.

I take one night off to go to see the Niners at Candlestick, and the Sharks can’t hold a 2 goal lead in the third? Ugh. Guess I’m either glued to my TV or the arena from now on.
