Seriously, tho, as an alum, this is a depressing season. Even if it a joke of a bowl, at least the New Mexico Bowl was a postseason game.

My cousin played on the band and got to head down there for that game. It was awesome.
Why do we always lose close overtime games to hawaii? bleh. I hate this season. So many close games that the Spartans were unable to finish out in.

The Sharks did a pretty good job of trying to completely give away any momentum their lead had given them there at the end. They just look really sloppy tonight.

So, my Pac-10 range of caring is very small. I’m a Texas fan, so I follow the Big 12. But I was hoping that Stanford could get to the Rose Bowl. To do that they would have needed to win, and then have AZ win. But now that Stanford lost, I don’t care who wins this one, just looking for an entertaining finish. Thus, I approve of this ending.

That's generally true for all 3 Star selections
A home team broadcaster always chooses the three stars of the game. A number of times the Sharks have lost a home game, they still got one or two players in the 3 Stars themselves. It isn’t just SoCal.

Great game. Sitting in the section right next to the bus trip fans, so all I heard were Sharks chants (which there were a lot of – did anyone hear them on TV?). The Sharks were playing a little sloppy at times (like that end-to-end action with ZOMG POST! on that one Sharks power play), and there were a few close calls, but I had a feeling the Sharks would win and they did, so the world is good.
Also, there were quite a few empty seats at the Pond, especially in the upper decks. It kind of bothered me, seeing how the only two arenas I’ve been to are HP Pavilion and the United Center. Oh, and my friends loved the game, so hopefully I converted them. One wanted more fights, though.

I was up in 442 for that game, near a bunch of Sharks fans, though I think pretty much everybody was near Sharks fans.
I think worst case we were out numbered only 2-3. Most of the chants I heard were Sharks related. Lots of “Lets Go Sha-arks” (I hate splitting that into 2 syllables by the way) and “Nab-by, Nab-by, Nab-by”
All in all, good night to be a Sharks fan, I still find it impossible to talk shit to Ducks fans in general due to circumstances, but it was a good time. Also, Spade (who posts a lot at battle of Cali) bought me a beer after the game. Thanks Spade!

I was in row R, by the Isle. Black Boyle Jersey… typically screaming “Nabby!” and cursing under my breath at the guy who had a Ducks Jersey with “Champions 07” on the back.
Ah, I was in row J near the aisle as well, over on the left-hand side. So if you saw a blonde girl in a blank Sharks home jersey, that was me. I was sitting behind a lady with a signed Selanne jersey who kept leaning forward and blocking the ice. Pissed me off.

I was on the right side I think.. depends on the direction you’re looking. I was right near the group of fans in 441 that had the shark teeth for the power play (which I thought was awesome… it was practically a home game).
Ahh, okay, I was on the other side. But I saw those people, and the two other groups that were doing the same thing. And I agree – it was awesome.
Oh, and the chants were great too. The signature section 209 chant before the anthem (Hey Anaheim… YOU SUCK!), taunting Hiller, “Ducks suck!”, “We can’t hear you!”, “Na-bby!”, and the ever-present “Let’s go Sharks,” both with and without drawing out the word “Sharks” into two syllables. I was a little worried I was going to get beer thrown on me from all the chants since I was the lone Sharks fan within the immediate vicinity, but the people behind my group left during the second period, so it was all good.
But man, Sharks fans were loud tonight. I heard “Ducks” instead of “Sharks” in the chants maybe once or twice, and only when they were dying out. Great atmosphere.

Yeah, that was probably the most Sharks fans I’ve seen at a Ducks game so far.
There was a couple with a toddler in a tiny Sharks jersey in our isle. I asked my brother when he was going to get one for his daughter… “Tomorrow” was the answer.
I converted him last year, he’s probably as die hard as me at this point, paid for center ice and everything. I’ll see if I can’t get him posting here in the near future as well.

My dad converted me around two years ago, and suffice to say, the student has now surpassed the master. Well, with all recent hockey stuff. He still owns me on stuff that happened back in the 90s.

Anyway, yeah, very enjoyable game, probably more so for us than you, but I still would have called it a good game had that last goal gone the other way.
Going to Sharks games at the tank takes a bit of pre-planning as they tend to sell out most of the time. I do need to make a trip up to a game in SJ at some point this year, I’m really starting to miss the Tank.
Im hoping he got lucky..and went home that nite with what he thought was a women..only to find out she had a penis…now that would be quite a story and good reason to be so absent
