When they know that fans of the other team are watching them, they actually make an effort to be less homer-ish, trying to emulate a national broadcast. They are pretty pro-Sharks otherwise, but at least they do make an effort to praise the other team.

My thoughts so far:
1). Ortmeyer and nichols are going to be huge for us this year great pick up
2). I was wrong about Patty
3). Heatley is as good as I thought
4). Defenseman are very shaky but demers is solid offensively
5). Hopefully we get the injury bug early this year and not late

I thought the rule stated something like that if the ref intends to blow the whistle, but never does, the goal does not stand if they wave it off. But, he did not wave it off, so I am not sure.

The only reason he didn’t blow the whistle, even though it was already in his mouth, is that Zetterberg was moving toward it. That’s horseshit! That doesn’t change the fact that he couldn’t see it.

Jon Casey fan since '84

by stufflife on Nov 5, 2009 7:15 PM PST up reply actions

Rule 32.2
As there is a human factor involved in blowing the whistle to stop play, the Referee may deem the play to be stopped slightly prior to the whistle actually being blown. The fact that the puck may come loose or cross the goal line prior to the sound of the whistle has no bearing if the Referee has ruled that the play had been stopped prior to this happening.

He either a) never intended to blow the whistle or b) got chickenshit and didn’t call it because he knew Detroit’s fans would lynch him after the game.

Its not reviewable in this case because he never actually blew the whistle. The “intent to blow” only comes into play if the whistle is actually blown to account for discrepancies in reaction time.

Pavelski

Does the exact same move every time and he’s one of the best in the league.

Clowe does the exact same move and is probably the 2nd best on the team…

Lifetime in the shootout:
Joe Pavelski: 14/24 58.3%
Ryan Clowe: 6/12 50%
Manny Malhotra 1/2 50%
Dan Boyle 4/12 33.3%
Patrick Marleau 5/17 29.4%
Joe Thornton 2/8 25%
Dany Heatley 4/21 19%
Devin Setoguchi 1/6 16.7%
Ortmeyer, Ferriero, Mitchel and Couture are all 0/1 0% on nhl.com Not sure when most of those guys even had an attempt.. oh well.

Seems like Clowe should be in every shootout to me.

It doesn’t seem like his head has been in the game and he got outworked at the end of the Detroit game. I don’t want him in the lineup just in case the game goes to a shootout. Once a couple of forwards come back, I want to see him healthy scratched if he still looks bad like yesterday.

I’d rather have him in the lineup than Staubitz or some other rookie, but if that’s not the issue…

The whole team looked gassed

By the end of that game the only Sharks with any energy left were the 4th liners because they only play 7 minutes a night.

The rest of the team just played big minutes in an OT game the night before and then put up a solid fight against the Red Wings, not exactly a slow team.

Nothing happens in a vacuum.

That is true.

Pavs, though, can come in from the left or right side and just rip it and score. Clowe only comes in from the middle, but he does have a 50% shootout percentage. What I meant to say, was that on back to back nights he should try something different.

Clowe

Can deke a goalie well, getting him to freeze enough to whip it around (or over really) him. It doesn’t matter if the goalie knows your move because if he doesn’t bite on the first move you can just keep going that way.

Watch some Wolski shootout highlights. The guy is the master of the thing, obviously better than Clowe, but every goalie knows his move and he still embarrasses them at an amazing rate.

The Kings

Just put up 4 goals in the 3rd period on the Pens… Rudy must be a happy man.

BREAKING NEWS

Logan Couture’s nickname on the team? Cooch. I almost like that better than BUST.

I agree, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to use it every chance I get.

Cooty? Lohgy? I don’t know Logan’s name sucks for nicknames.
