McLellan's Shootout Roster for the Pens (If necessary)

Murray

Shelley

Joslin

Why not ? Does it matter? It is only the differrence between 1 and 2 points? I mean who cares if we win at that point anyway? After 65 minutes of Hockey you should know from watching the last 2 shootouts he doesn't necessarily put the players in that get paid to score goals...What? Is there anything wrong with that? Please, someone tell "Blockhead" that Marleau is fifth in the league in goals! Psst... coach um Marleau has 11 goals on the year. Maybe he would be a good choice eh? Hey Todd, maybe we should move Heatley up on the list so he at least gets an opportunity at it before the game ends..after all, only 5 other guys in the league have more goals than him!

Clearly you're smarter then Mac

Why aren;t you coaching in the NHL, anyways? Your reasoning behind shootout choices appears to be strictly based on goal totals, which is hardly an indicator of who should be used in the shutout. Players don’t get paid to score goals, players get made to play their role on a team. Give us a reason why you think the way you do besides simply goal totals and maybe we’ll take your opinion seriously.

And for the record, I care about getting the 2nd point and I care about winning the game.

Cleary you are new here.

2 fanposts within 24 hours on the same topic.

Not trying to scare you away here dude, but you gotta know how things work around here!

Way to go Sherlock!

Unlike Pavs, you are a good detective. Fill me in. How do things work around here? I am still waiting for hockey fans that are “smarter than a fifth greater” to provide hockey intellect instead of emotion only responses. Be thoughful and eveyone may actually learn something! And, oh by the way…Can you think of a better way to get a goal in a shootout other than using the best goal scorers? I am open to suggestions so long as there is reasoning behind them.

1st

you could try not acting like a dick. This is the internet no one cares if you’re a tough guy.

Second: it’s kinda annoying to discuss the same topic over and over again. That is probably the main reason no one is responding to you.

Third: Any hockey player will tell you that goal scoring in a game is completely different then goal scoring in the shootout. Proof:

Lifetime in the shootout:
Joe Pavelski: 14/24 58.3%
Ryan Clowe: 6/12 50%
Manny Malhotra 1/2 50%
Dan Boyle 4/12 33.3%
Patrick Marleau 5/17 29.4%
Joe Thornton 2/8 25%
Dany Heatley 4/21 19%
Devin Setoguchi 1/6 16.7%
Ortmeyer, Ferriero, Mitchel and Couture are all 0/1 0%
-credits go to evilducks

Oh that’s odd. Heater and Patty have bad percentages…

Fourth: You don’t need to make a fanpost on everything (or the same thing twice for that matter). That’s what commenting is for. Read around get used to the flow around here.

Excellent

Another example…Jeremy Roenick. In the twilight of his career, despite his dwindling offensive stats he still had hands for the SO. "It’s not so much me as it is Roenick."

dude responsible for this mess

Thank you for the stats via evilducks. This is what I am asking for. See, It took some pulling but now you are getting it. Way to back it up. So, you are basing your debate soley on percentages? Thats ok.. but is it more viable than mine? With that reasoning, TM would have Malhotra every time until and unless that percentage drops right? I wonder why he does not use Malhotra then, or for that matter the 3 guys I listed? Oh yeah thanks for filling me in on the other points as well. It is always nice to have a hall monitor around, you never know when you might need one. PS If you do not like a post, don’t comment.

There aren’t any points to see.

He is incapable of understanding the difference between the skills required to score a goal in the shootout and the skills required to score goals while other players are on the ice.

Just relax bud

We’re all happy to have another passionate Sharks fan, but instead of instigating problems with members, why not engage them in a civilized manner? We all love to banter and you won’t find a bunch of homers (in the sense that we defend whatever our team does). You’ll find we’re very critical of our boys in teal, but we do so in an enjoyable and intelligent way.

Honestly.

Perhaps we could cut our losses and stop talking to this toolbag.

I’m sure that his own anger (and the silly way he lets it loose) will eventually get him a fist-sized hole in the face or an equally serious blood pressure problem.

So let’s just silent treatment him until he learns to play nice. Or at least be a more intelligent douche.

I shouldn't have said anything.

I don’t really mind surly users. What bothers me is making fanposts out of comments. Some of the threads have over 500 comments. Each one doesn’t deserve to be a fanpost. I’d like to see a short FAQ about what constitutes a fanpost or fanshot. I know they show up on occasion, but can we make it show up semi-permanently? Something like…

“You’re about to create a fanpost, are you sure this isn’t just a comment?” I know I ask myself that when I am getting close to the sidebar.

By the way, I have a massive database of stats that I’m close to sharing. I just didn’t want to do it until we got a ways into the season.
