Blake Out for a "couple of weeks", Couture and Ferriero sent to Worcester
Nothing specific on the injury (the usual "upper body" business), but Blake does have his left arm in a sling and mentioned having shoulder surgery before. I'm sure if he needed to go under the knife he would have already, so there's no need to worry about this ending up there.
[UPDATE] An email from AHL broadcaster Eric Lindquist tipped us off on this one, and expect to see it on WTC (it's there now) as the day progresses. Both Couture and Ferriero were sent to Worcester, so it leads us to believe that one of Mitchell, Vesce (H/T cerise) or Setoguchi is ready to return to action. On a side note, it seems that McGinn has impressed more than just Plank and I in his recent NHL stint, as he'll be staying up while Ferriero is sent to the AHL for the first time this year.

That sucks.
But at least it’s not worse. You know, I was quite pleased with what I saw from Vlasic last night, and Joslin is fitting in just fine in Blake’s absence.
However, if Boyle keeps playing half the game, Blake’s injury could have some long term effects on #22.

Yeah, I was surprised they were even putting Boyle out in the 3rd period on the PP. I hope McLellan does give some more icetime to Demers and Joslin. I certainly feel like they’re earned it. Hopefully the time off due to the injury keeps Blake fresh for the playoffs without getting Boyle injured or tired.

Agreed.
Especially since he will potentially play in the Olympics, he could be drained by the postseason.

*coughs*
couchtarts does recaps…
:D
but seriously, with all the stuff these guys are busting out, I’m not sure how they’d find the time to recap.

We'll get to it eventually...
(As in midseason), but you can read a game recap anywhere. Like Gray said, we’re busting out an article a day, so the recaps fell by the wayside a bit.

omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg @ the update
Mitchell or Seto come back I don’t care which one. Both preferably.
And I wonder what its like to first play professionally in the NHL then go to the AHL. Think Ferriero will be hazed or something?

I dunno how I feel about this. There’s so many good new players — who do you keep up and who do you send back down?
Couture really showed up the last two games which makes me want to keep seeing more of him. (OT: my girlfriend is going to start wearing a shirt that says “Couture” across the chest.)
I didn’t really understand the hype about Ferrerio at first, but he’s been pretty solid the last few games. I’d almost rather see Couture on than Ferrerio because he’s been more impressive lately.
I guess when it comes right down to it, I can see McGinn getting the nod instead. It’s good to rotate a few players up to give them a chance before there’s injuries and they have to be thrown onto the fire.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but couldn’t this also mean that Vesce’s back? I didn’t notice anything about him sent down, so I assume that’s still a possibility.

Vesce is now officially on the IR.

Thanks for the catch. sharks.nhl.com didn’t list him there.

That's interesting.
Because he was as of yesterday. At this point, though, I don’t think they prefer Vesce over Ferriero, so if Vesce was back, I don’t think they send Ferriero down.
However, just reading WTC, it looks like Vesce is closer than Setoguchi, so I’ll go ahead and update.

I can see it either way. Vesce was on a streak when he went down.
Besides — I wouldn’t put it past TM to know something I didn’t.

OT but
are you all watching the tweets explosion over the NHLPA right now? Interim Ombudsman resigned. I’m watching the tweet fest to try and gain a better understand of what all this means.

looks like Seto may be back...
from DP:
“UPDATE at 4:39 P.M.: A Sharks spokesman did get back to me, saying that, yes, he’d also speculate that injured players are getting ready to return. And he wouldn’t necessarily rule out Devin Setoguchi among the candidates to be back in the lineup.”

One of Gooch, Ewok, or Torreh potentially back Tuesday?

I Like!

I’m glad to see McGinn staying up over Ferriero. He’s been a beast this year since getting called back up, and has formed some pretty awesome chemistry with Nichol and Orts on the third line. I’ve especially been impressed with his speed and tenacity on the forecheck. Good call!
It would be awesome to see Gooch back! Although Vesce getting back works for me too.

Oh, and another thing.
Fairy-O’s getting sent back to the Woo, and he got top-line treatment with Heatley and Thornton. Couture’s not a checking line forward. If he was on the top line, he’s probably have a bazillion goals a game.
