I don’t think the Sharks played all that bad in the first. Okay, there were some moments that I was less than thrilled with, but there’s been good effort by all of them – notably Scott Nichol and Joe Thornton.
And, like I’ve said before, it’s not a Sharks game without Rob Blake taking an ill-timed penalty.

I forget if it was the Kings or Ducks guys
But the color guy was talking about the responsibilities of a captain, especially those that the fans don’t necessarily see: being a liason to management, having schedule input in terms of travel and practice time, etc. We haven’t talked a lot about those. The other teams guys seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable that a player might be weighed down by those kinds of responsibilities and might have a load off if they were reassigned. It’s true that on the ice, the captain is little different than the rest of the guys. Off the ice is a different thing. Maybe there is something to it.Who knows. Who cares.

I dunno. A good forecheck and a good PK I think masked what was otherwise a pretty uninspiring first period effort. All our best scoring chances were off of miscues or forechecking. The entry into the zone was pretty bad, we got badly outhit, and took some dumb penalties. The Stars had a few offensive possessions that lasted for days, while the Sharks did not. All in all, the Sharks got pretty badly outplayed.
