Hope everyone enjoyed their stockings filled with coal yesterday. My barbeque will be running for months.
I'm still not sold on how the Sharks have played in the month of December, with the wins against Dallas and Chicago due in large part to the play of Evgeni Nabokov. Timely goals are a big plus obviously, but the team won't find a lot of long term success if they continue to get outshot at even strength to the tune of 39-8. Those numbers don't even seem real.
The plan is to take a much more in-depth look at these trends later on in the week, but for now let's enjoy the holiday spirits (both literally and figuratively), have a blast at FTF Night At The Tank (Firehouse #1 on San Pedro before the game-- we'll leave for HP Pavilion around 6:45), and root against those villainous Anaheim Ducks (who are on a relative roll in their last seven considering the trouble they've had accumulating standings points this year).
Hope everyone had a great time with their families the last few days.
Prediction: Sharks win 5-2. Goals by Malhotra, Heatley, Blake, and McGinn (x2).
Go Sharks.

BREAKING NEWS
Aftonbladet, a prominent newspaper in Sweden, has revealed that Douglas Murray has been chosen for Team Sweden! [link]
Or, as Google translator put it:
Swedish people want to see him in Vancouver – and now even Bengt-Ake Gustafsson decided. Sportbladet can reveal that tough hill Douglas Murray, 29, is included in the Swedish Olympic squad.

I didn’t put this in a fanshot, because it’s not the official list, and the link is in Swedish, which I don’t think very many of us can understand.

I am so sad
JFizzle is going in my place, so he needs to drink my portion in addition to his. Plank, force him to take 5 shots of the well vodka or else his free ticket is forfeit! I kid, of course, since he needs to drive home.
CUIDADO: Estoy Borracho!
Thanks be to Lurker Shark
I’ll be in attendance.
I just saw the Ducks get pounded by the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale two nights ago – I bring this up to say I’m pretty sure we have little to be worried about.
That sound you just heard was me knocking on every piece of wood in a ten foot radius.
Go Sharks.

Firehouse #1 on North Market
Uh oh…North Market? Not North San Pedro Street (like Google tells me)? Address please!
I know … I thought the same thing … but Plankdude wouldn’t be Plankdude if he didn’t try to confuse someone in the threads … :)

Plank, I e-mailed you about my interest in that Sharks ticket your selling today
Since it was during the Christmas rush, you probably haven’t checked your e-mail, so I thought I’d try here.
I’ll be in a dark blue Sharks jersey (with my red Manchester United jersey under that) and shorts.
Also, If I don’t get the ticket, can I still hang out with you guys before the game?
I'm warning you! I have ADHD and I know how to use it!!!
Go Sharks!
My brother and I will sit in a different section during the game, but we look forward to meeting all you guys at the Firehouse.
Go Sharks!

Greetings from Japers’ Rink! I think several of us are going to wander over tonight (while we bask in the glow of the stomping the Caps laid on the Devils)

but none of my usual spots are working
It's oh so quiet....
If anyone finds a decent stream, not ATDHE, which is so bad it’s making me consider giving up and watching the Oilers/Nucks game on TV, can you post a link?
Go Sharks!
And you think you live in a non-traditional hockey market...
yeah atdhe is such a bummer tonight. and i wish gamecenter would have a single game option.

we’re going to have to drag some fellow Rink-ers over here and liven things up a bit. (where are my fellow Rabbits? I’m sure we can endlessly discuss the various players of the Sharks…..)

we’d prefer him covered in bubbles, actually…..or maybe icing. We’re Rabbits, not bunnies!

AO
Matt Bradley (flukey pop up that Brodeur bobbled into the net)
Backstrom
Green (Canada’s 7th D?)
Good game by the Caps, for the most part. NJD hit a pipe and had a goal disallowed, but the Caps looked good.
"You're gonna eat that g**d**n Koho, three!"
and Semin signed a one-year extension, so awesome night for Caps fans.
Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.
For him: he’s really good.
Against him: the ingrained perception that he’s bad at defense.
He’s not bad at D. He’s not elite, but he’s lots better than average. He’s absolutely the best offensive defenseman in the game right now. Tremendous on the breakout, PP, and covers a ton of ground out there.
Canadians are traditionally wrongheaded about just about every thing, though, so we’ll have to see how it shakes out.
"You're gonna eat that g**d**n Koho, three!"
I know he wants it sooooooo bad, and I think he deserves it, but I just cannot bring myself to root for Team Canada.
Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.
I know it’s 2-0 Sharks, or was, but this wifi here is teh crappy and won’t let me do radio streams w/out cutting out every 5-10 seconds, so I’m not listening. wah wah

Fookin' Ducks announcers
They’re the worst. I’m in DC visiting family and I’m stuck with the ATDHE stream. The Ducks announcers have spent the last 35 minutes making excuses for the Ducks, particularly about how much time they’ve spent on the road. I know another team that spent a ton of time on the road earlier in the season >.>
Anyone have any better streams than the ATDHE one?
Kinda
They’re both Sopcasts
Kids in the back seat cause accidents. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.
i went for a while without sopcast, but when csn started blacking out atdhe’s streams i finally got it. never needed them til this year but they work alright when you get the IE tab for firefox. it’s worked fine so far for me. also this has links to streams each game.
Thanks all. I’ll keep periodically checking. Hey RedBirdie, where’s a good place in DC to watch the Sharks-Caps game? We’ll still be here and we brought our jerseys with the intention of watching the game in a good bar.
depends where in the area you are. (BTW, let me be the first to invite you to the Rink gathering at Bailey’s in the Ballston Common Mall on Jan. 2 for the Caps-Kings game at 4 pm, if you’ll still be in town!) I think Penn Quarter Sports Tavern at 7th & Indiana NW (Archives Metro station) is a good one in DC, but pretty much ANY bar in DC will put on the Caps game. The various Dogfish Head Ale Houses (Gaithersburg, Falls Church, Fairfax) have outstanding beer AND hockey on TV, but I don’t know how late they will be open. Where abouts the city/metro area will you be?
Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.
I’m staying at my aunt’s in Potomac, MD, but we have access to a car and the Metro so transportation isn’t an issue. We’re actually heading back to the Bay Area on the 2nd, otherwise I’d definitely come to that gathering. Thanks for the invite though!
Just so you know, the game doesn’t start until 10, so if you want to come downtown, you’ll need a car, because the metro closes at midnight.
From Potomac, you’re probably best off going to Bethesda. Unfortunately, I’m not real familiar with which bars are best for watching Caps games. Maybe Union Jacks? RiRa will probably put the game on if you ask, same with Barking Dog, if you’re looking for the hole-in-the-wall-in-yuppieville experience.
Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.
Hoping to wake up and see a fantastic pwning of the Ducks

Egh
Was at Night at the Tank pre-game, though I don’t think anybody would’ve noticed. Only got to meet Plank and Section 223 – the damn place was crowded, my friends and I had to sit on the opposite side of the party room, and I’m not exactly the most social person (and this was my friends’ first hockey game, so it was intimidating for them to be around so many rabid fans, so I had to stay with them most of the night), so I didn’t get to meet a lot of people. I’ll be sure to try and be a bit more social next time – sorry!
Awww!
You didn’t say hi to me!
Twas fun though, and next time you have to at least say hi. Sorry you got shafted on the seating arrangements.

I bought raffle tickets from you (at least I think it was you), but you were really too busy that I thought an introduction right then wouldn’t work. As for seating – eh, it happens.
Ah, Ok!
Some got there as early as 3:30, so we had part of the room all to ourselves. The rain kind of screwed us, because the people who usually would have sat outside had to come in.
I’m looking at you, awkward old couple!!!
