Murray selected to Swedish Olympic team

Swedish Newspaper Aftonbladet is reporting that Douglas Murray has made it on to the Sewdish Olympic Team ahead of the official announcement.

Source: Aftonbladet.se

Translated quotes from Douglas Murray:

-That would be amazing and a big honour. Let's hope you're right about the selection.

- Personally, I think I deserve a place on the roster. Nonetheless, we have a lot of worthy defencemen so the competition is tough.

- My style of play is not very Swedish. But a lot of people think I only play tough and that frustrates me (he's commenting on the reporter talking about his hit on Russias Alexei Morozov). I do play around 20 minutes a night on one of the top teams in the NHL.

The article also says that Johan Franzen didn't make the cut. So he must be very injured.

Sweden over and out.

Thanks for the information

Can you maybe answer a question I’ve had about Scandinavian hockey?

Why are Finland and Sweden such great hockey countries, but yet Norway is dreadful?

Given the proximity to each other, I thought there would be some run over of talent/competition.

Good choice Sweden

Players like Doug Murray are even more valuable in the Olympics then in the NHL.

popping over for a fun night with the FTF crew……but I’m gutted for Franzen. Just gutted.

Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.

Great to see it officially announced – the evolution of Douglas Murray personifies the Sharks development system.

Crankshafting and Kronwalling?

Seriously

I liked this BAG quote (translated) from the conference:

“(Murray) is very big. You are supposed to go around him so you can get past him and it’s a long way to go.”

I’m hoping that this will also provide for more opportunities for Swisher to post cute pictures of Murray during the Olympics (I’m assuming we’ll them, right?) gameday threads
