Scrappy win, but I’ll take it. Effort looked much much better in the second and the third.
Off to play NHL 09 if anyone’s interested.
Go Sharks.
Fear The Fin: Where The Second Round Is Overrated
I thought
the effort in the third was pretty damned good. That’s the kind of stuff we need to see.
Of course we had another game where their goalie looked like Hasik incarnate…but the results are what counts.
Oh, damned if Goc didn’t look pretty damned good tonight
I gotta be at work in a couple hours, so it’s adios folks…nice game

Thanks for the win and the GDT.
Nice to hang with fans of another team who “get it”.
Best wishes in your quest to “Fuck Detroit”.
Let's go Blues!!!
There's no
other team I’d prefer to meet in the first round. I can stomach a loss to you folks. I’d prep to kill myself if we meet the shit wings in the first round and lose. I know those fuckheads wouldn’t even show up to talk smack until game 4 with a 6-2 lead and 1:30 left in the third.
I must say of all the folk I’ve run into this year, you guys/gals kick the most ass. Keep it up, and I hope to see you in the first/second round!

Thanks Dan!
I would have to say that if the Blues knocked us out in the first / second round, I would still root for you the rest of the way.

Buffalo for me – great fan base, low ticket prices, small market feel. Not Canada, and yet within sight of it (literally within view of the arena). I’m praying the Sharks do a home / away series with the Sabres so I can go next season – this season I couldn’t get away :-(

Haha
I remember this one episode of Late Night when the Oilers were in New York and there were two guys decked out in Oilers jerseys in the audience. Conan had a joke about Canada, and asked if there were any Canadians there. The guys cheered, of course, and then Conan commented that they must be playing the Rangers. He looked at his cue card, started laughing, and said, “Well, you guys are really going to like this one.”
“Canada was discussing to open a National Portrait Gallery. Yeah. But then they decided not to when they realized all the portraits they had were of Wayne Gretzky.”
Cue Oiler fans cheering their heads off. And – surprise, surprise – one of them was wearing a Gretzky jersey, and stood up and starting showing everybody and pointing at it. Conan ended up giving the guy the cue card.
A little off topic, but that’s what I was reminded of.
Of course not.
Scary thought for you. Maybe you’ve picked it up from me.

They had a bit of an implosion.
Then they dismantled the team at the deadline. I only hope they can pass Colorado and the Avs end up dead last in the conference.

Wait - what?
Three stars of the game:
1 – Nabokov (duh)
2 – Hiller (understandable)
3 – Perry (WTF?!)
So, apparently scoring the game’s only goal isn’t enough to warrant a star, but cross-checking the opponent’s goaltender’s legs while he’s on the ground is. This confuses me.
(And yes, I know I’m over-simplifying things, but I still think Moen deserves a star much more than Perry does).
Jamie Baker agrees with you.
He was surprised that somehow a -1 with 2 PIM, 6 shots, 2 hits and 2 giveaways in 18:38 is more impressive than the game winning goal (on 2 shots) with 6 hits, a takeaway and 2 blocked shots in 16:51.

Three Stars
Are overrated anyways. I never care much for them. If I remember correctly somebody posted an article on how the three stars are picked. Forgot about what the article said, but I remembered Three Stars = Sucking up to the home team
Yeah
Jamie called conspiracy on this one.

by Lurker Shark on Mar 15, 2009 10:58 PM PDT up reply actions
More like picked by the home team. Somebody on the home team (usually a broadcaster) will usually pick the three stars. I know Dan Rusanowsky does it for Sharks home games.
Bay Area born and bred.
if it's the broadcasters,
no wonder. I have Sirius and listened to the Postgame show as I was driving (Anaheim broadcasters, bleeccchhhhh), and all they did was bellyache about how lucky Moen was, how the goal was garbage, blah blah blah, and that the Ducks deserved a better fate.
Makes me proud to be a Sharks fan.
Usually it says who picks them on the NHL game summary, but this time it didn’t. Kind of odd, since its always been there before.
And I bet that they’re just bitter that in five games with the Sharks, Moen already has three points, including two goals – which is a third of his total goal production for this year so far.
they must have a 'stars' contest
in anaheim, and perry needs the points or something. I don’t possibly see how any forward gets a star when you are shutout unless that forward is Selanne and got 15 shots on goal and was completely stoned or something akin to that.
