Phoenix is tanking for Tavares like nobody's business, so today we'll be keeping it light. Remember to get your Patrick Marleau St. Patty's Day photoshops in by 10 PM tonight- email is preferred so the material is fresh, but we'll take em' any way we can get em'. The Expo will be hitting shelves after the game.

Detroit plays at home against Philly early this evening- keep your eye on that one (4:30 PST). When we hit next week or so FTF will be organizing some official field trips to the corresponding blog opponents of the Wings, so be prepared to pack a sack lunch. Don't let that stop you from wandering SBN until then of course; just remember we can't be held responsible if you get lost on your way home.

Prediction: Sharks win 4-1. Goals by McGinn, Cheechoo, and Marleau (x2). Some young ruffians dye Coyote Creek teal because St. Patrick's Day brings out the wit in all of us. Either that or they were inebriated. Might be number two.

Go Sharks.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's game...

Granted, the Coyotes are tanking, but these are the games that the Sharks should win. Games like this will determine if we get the first seed, the Sharks need to show some fire tonight.

Broken Leg

I know that a broken leg can take up to 6 weeks to recover, but this had to be a really bad injury for him to be put aside for more than 5 months. That definitely had me confused…

Let the end of the world begin with us!!

by insanewidget on Mar 17, 2009 3:43 PM PDT up reply actions

As someone who knows

well, ok, I didn’t break my leg, I just tore some pieces off of it, amongst other things. All still there, good as new. Anyway, my injury supposedly took 8 weeks to heal, but it was a year before I could really run without problems again. I did like 4-6 month of therapy for it. It was insane!
Sometimes stuff just takes forever to make itself right again.

haha yes I think painful would go without saying :P although since it was about 7 years ago I don’t really remember it too clearly. All I remember is that it was, because I was playing tackle football at a picnic and my friend’s oversized cousin somehow tossed me into the air and my arm landed just right on top of a rock before he fell on top of me. Then my brother’s friend tried to “fix it” because he insisted it was a dislocated shoulder and wanted to do something, which probably made matters worse. Then for the following two weeks my parents didn’t believe me that it still hurt, they figured it was just a very bad bruise until the physician’s x-ray machine proved otherwise, heh.

Anyone down for visiting Travis at BSB? 4:30pm PT puck drop.

Sharks magic number still stands at 1 to clinch the Pacific. It’s minor in the grand scheme of things, but still a nice marker to acknowledge – especially since it’s mid-March (very niiiice).

I might pop by for a tiny bit

Gotta lot on my plate – plus I’m doing the game wrap for tonight’s game, so I can’t be 100% hockey pre-game, or I’ll get nothing (serious) done.

As for the Flyers – they’re 3-2-0 in their last 5, and they’re coming off a loss to the Rangers on Sunday. Fingers crossed…

At the very least (and needless to say) we’ve got to get 2 points out of tonight. These one-goal games must die so that we may live (in the post-season).

DALLAS ALERT (for this Saturday)

From Puck Daddy =

The Dallas Stars could have and Brad Richards, Jere Lehtinen, Toby Petersen, Mark Parrish and Fabian Brunnstrom all back by the end of the week. They have the eight seed right now; barring Turco being Turco, this is a very dangerous first-round team.

Vancouver

They’ve been hot lately with Luongo getting his legs back and Sundin with the Sedin twins firing on the net again. Don’t expect them to give Dallas an easy game tonight, especially with them only 5 points away from going klepto on the division and toppling Calgary.

P.S. With a Dallas loss tonight (OTL or regulation loss) the Sharks will officially clinch the division. Dallas must win 100% of their remaining 13 games (all 26 points) just to tie the Sharks in points.

And the Sharks have to lose all of their remaining games in regulation, I take it…

I noticed a couple of days ago that the Canucks were edging up on Calgary – but I love the way you put it (“going klepto on the division and toppling Calgary”). Should they topple Calgary, Calgary would move into fourth or fifth – which is GREAT, because then Chicago and Calgary would duke it out in the first round.

I think most folks who watched the game knew the kick didn’t happen/didn’t happen like he stated. I find it totally conceivable that Nabby accidentally tapped him while trying to get up. Ice is slippery, ya know?

He was probably just trying to give a good reason for the crosscheck to the back of Nabby’s legs.

He was probably just trying to give a good reason for the crosscheck to the back of Nabby’s legs.

The more I think about this (which isn’t often, since it’s such a stupid thing anyhow), the more it makes sense that Perry would be trying to defer attention from his deed so that he doesn’t get suspended. The Ducks are not quite out of the playoff race, and they’ll need his scoring abilities in the final push.

Dinner with J.R.!
3) The Sharks had Monday off and most players accepted Jeremy Roenick’s invitation for a round of golf and dinner at his Phoenix-area home. On the menu: chicken parm, chicken marsala, pasta and bundt cake.

Roenick — as well as Claude Lemieux — skated with the team in Anaheim and here today, but don’t be thinking that means either will be in the lineup anytime soon. The plan, as JR refers to it, calls for them to be ready by the playoffs and nobody seems to be rushing things.

My one concern – playing golf. History has shown that teams come to Phoenix and get distracted by the golf, and subsequently get off their game.

Oh, wait – that also applies to the home team. Last place – D’OH!!

I’m watching the stream, and its really been end-to-end. As in, one team gets a chance, the other team picks up the puck and goes down the ice and gets a chance, then the other team picks up the puck, and so on and so forth. Very little sustained pressure by either team (but then again, I’ve only been watching for the past five-ten minutes so it might just be the stretch of game I’m watching).

Irish

I don’t know any Irish dishes, but I know a fantastic British dish :)

Try this:
1) tortilla or toasted bread
2) diced chicken or turkey
3) bacon
4) stuffing

mayonnaise is optional. i hate it, but the British love it.

I’m in no mood to deal with this shit. There was nothing redeeming on the ice. The fact that a line composed of the offensively-challenged pair of Goc and Cheechoo is the one doing the most is pathetic. I mean, even Blake’s fight was pretty pathetic. He was just trying to get the other guy undressed – WTF?

no one can teach them that

the only thing that helps me when i’m doing bad in track is doing worse. it motivates me. they need to be motivated. someone needs to give them a wake up call. whether it’s from a coach, a friend, or thousands of angry bloggers they need to open up their eyes. they better start playing better or else i’m seeing another calgary type series, and this one won’t have a happy ending.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential… very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we’d make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum… it’s breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
