Sharks vs. Avalanche: Your FTF Post-Game Thread
Alexei Semenov with 2 assists? Take THAT, Scott Hannan.
Sharks win 3-1 = keep your fingers crossed that the Sharks remain #1 in the NHL past tomorrow night, when the Detroit Red Wings begin a back-to-back set of games against Calgary and Edmonton. The Sharks are inactive until Wednesday, when they play Chicago before heading to Nashville the following day.
Photo finish for the President's Trophy? GO SHARKS.

SHARKS!
Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality?

Whoo
Sharks are back on top, my shins are screaming, and I can see the floor of my closet for the first time in months. Good day all around.

But where's the fun in that?

looks like we won good job guys,
i was stuck at the old grandparents for a birthday dinner
I don't like you Detroit.
Very awesome
Not much to say tonight since I wasn’t able to see about half the game, but man oh man do I love JR. The look on Semenov’s face was absolutely priceless. I think he and Clowe were co-conspirators for it, since Clowe came out with JR and was standing in the background, and then was there watching at the end. And seeing Pickles peek out of the door to watch was hilarious as well.
Oh, and is the empty netter curse broken? We shall see…
WAIT
IS THE GUY IN THE TAN SUIT TORREY MITCHELL?!?!?
Not the bald guy, of course. I’m very tired and I might be seeing things, but it looks like him just with a different haircut. If it is, that just made the entire thing even more awesome, because I absolutely love Mitchell. Favorite player last year, bar none.
And I’m sorry if I just stated/screamed the obvious to those of you much more observant than me.
I dont think it’s Torrey. I think it’s one of the shark’s office dudes.
Didnt they make a bobblehead of him?
That corner
Is Tom Holy, Vlasic and Clowe. I don’t know who the other two guys are. Anyone know?

Short dude in the middle
Looks like Lars Ulrich, the drummer from Metallica.
Hey, if Neil Young can be at the game…
(actually, James Hetfield, the singer, really was / is a season tickets holder)

I pay a lot of money to get marginal service at best. In fact we’re probably ditching cable because it’s not worth the investment. For the first 2 years or so at my current location, we couldn’t get good signal on the lower channels. Comcast told us the line was split too many times and we’d just have to deal with a snowy signal. They told us install the best they could do was give us a guarantee of a crappy signal but they wouldn’t give us a discount because they didn’t do the original cable run so it’s not their problem. My cable randomly cuts out for hours on end, and yet prices seem to rise as problems increase.
They aren’t quite Adelphia bad, Wonder why it’s called “dimadelphia in FOP?) but, they’re not what I would call "good” They just happen to be the only cable supplier in the area.

I really hate Comcast too.
When I moved into my new place, I called up comcast and requested service. They told me I had to drive to Newark and prove that I was the new tenant. I guess the previous tenants had left an unpaid balance.
I’m not sure how that is my problem that the previous tenants had not paid their bill, but I told them they had two options: 1) When the guy came out to install the cable I would give him a copy of the lease we had just signed to prove we were new, 2) I’ll get Astound/RCN.
I have Astound!
Dern
They don’t do service in my area. I was already lobbying to switch considering their digital package, with digital sports added in, is only 5 bucks more than what we pay for extended basic now.
resident cartoonist @couchtarts.blogspot.com
That’s the tough thing about Astound, because they run most of their own lines, they arent everywhere yet.
I dont get Versus free like I used to, but I think I should consider that a blessing! There is only so much Turkey hunting a man can handle.
The other thing about Astound is that they dont put the game on their on demand the next day, but that shouldnt matter for a die hard sharks fan, because you were there/Saw it live/Tivo’d it/Listened on line anyway!
Maybe check out the ATT U-verse. A buddy of mine has it and says it’s pretty awesome. It also links up your internet and tv in useful ways (such as being able to set the DVR from anywhere you can get internet).

They’d have to give us a pretty sweet deal. It’s a shame about Astound because they had some good 12 month specials.
resident cartoonist @couchtarts.blogspot.com
be nice if they’d give channel line up so I can see what that money is getting me. Harder to weight the savings when they add steps us lazy folk don’t want to do.

If you’re talking about U-verse, you can get channel listings from this link. Then just click on View Channel Listings on the left and it’ll open a handy pop-up.

Happy for Semenov
He’s been the goat for many Sharks fans most of the season, glad he could step in for Blakey, have a big night and then the shaving cream moment. He doesn’t always make the best choices, but you can tell he’s working hard.
Another victory, though I would’ve liked to have seen them beat the Avs with a bit more authority. Go Sharks Go!
Hey
When you are playing on a back-to-back, have 9 players injured, have an additional player thrown out of the game, and have to kill a 5 minute PP, people tend not to expect much. Even if it is an elite team like the Sharks.
As for Semenov… My opinion has changed throughout the season. In the beginning, he was horrible, topped off with the “glove of doom” goal. Then he played on the fourth line. Then, once the injuries to the blueline hit, he really stepped up and played well. Then he got bad again. Then he randomly comes out with a 2 point game. The inconsistency is maddening. But yes, he does work hard.
And, what Jaime and Scott said
We need to be BIG Calgary and Edmonton fans for the next 48 hours……hehehe
Wow
Looking at the event summary for this game, I have to hand it to Todd McLellan. You’d think with Blake out that Boyle or Vlasic’s TOI would be insanely high – no dice. Boyle had the most time on the ice for the Sharks, with 24:27. Marleau had the most among the forwards, with 20:41 – and the least amount of TOI (besides Cheechoo) belonged to Shelley, with 7:42. Cavanaugh was the next-lowest with 9:40, likely because he just got called up that day, and everyone else had over 10 minutes. Staubitz, amazingly, only had 40 seconds less ice time than Setoguchi.
TMac really spread out the ice time among all the guys, letting the big-minutes players have some rest on the back-to-back despite having a guy on the top line kicked out of the game, and still managed to win. Major props to him.
I'll celebrate
if we beat Chicago. Until then, these are still wins against mediocre or terrible opponents.
