Shorter than Martin St. Louis, this post is.
From the always informative David Pollak:
Sharks are now saying that Evgeni Nabokov "tweaked something" this week and won’t be playing tonight. How long he might be out is unknown at the point.....
.....A quick reminder: Neither Travis Moen (his wife just had a baby) or Kent Huskins (still needs to be cleared to play after foot surgery) will be in the lineup tonight against Minnesota. Both Moen and Huskins will be at HP Pavilion tonight, however, and could be playing Saturday in Vancouver.
In other news, Jamie McGinn has also been called up. Whether or not he plays tonight remains to be seen.
Jump city for three items of note.
1) We touched upon what yesterday's deadline means for the Sharks going forward, so be sure to check that out before tonight's game. My basic point was not to paint a dire picture of the future (although it is fairly troubling), but just show what most of us have known all year- this season is the Sharks best chance to win the Cup.
Do it.
2) I was contacted by Brian Kamenetzky of ESPN The Magazine to help provide him with information concerning their Ultimate Standings. All the information can be found here. It's about time we bust out the ol' collective thinking hat.
3) The Sharks haven't played all that well lately, but I'm going to reserve judgement until tonight's game and see how they bounce back. In Montreal they played brilliant despite the loss, and Tuesday night was atrocious (although Turco did play well). A possible first round matchup will look to establish some footing in HP Pavilion, but here's the facts Jack- San Jose may be banged up a bit in terms of depth, but anytime Owen Nolan leads your team in goals scored it's an issue.
Prediction: Sharks win 3-1. Goals by Gooch, Blake, and Thornton. Owen Nolan pots one to balloon his massive team-leading goal total to 18.
Go Sharks.

Vs the Wild, the Sharks need to score first
I haven’t checked the stats, but it seems they’ve surrendered the opening goal to the opposition quite a bit during this slump. An early 1-0 deficit to the trap happy offensively challenged zzzz-inducing club from the State of Hockey will surely make for a match so boring it would rival watching paint dry
So could the Sharks please get on the board first, then again, and again, and again…pizza!
I'm a happy seal
Pepe Lemieux and Joe Pavelski
San Jose will also be without forward Claude Lemieux for tonight’s game.
"’Pepe’ has an upper body injury that will keep him out," McLellan said.
"I have an upper body mystery/injury," Lemieux said with a smile. "Nothing serious."
McLellan won’t let his team use injuries as an excuse.
"We have a lot of bodies out, but we have to control what we can with the guys putting on the jerseys," McLellan said. "We need more from the people in the dressing room."
A benefactor in the rash of injuries has been defenseman Alexei Semenov. He’s been seen on the blue line and has also been used as a forward on different nights.
"I think it’s had an effect on ‘Semi,’" McLellan said. "He’s played his best when he knows when and where he’s going to play. I don’t know if that helps the individual, but it helps the team."
NO SUSPENSION
The questionable headbutting call against center Joe Pavelski in Tuesday night’s loss to Dallas wasn’t seen as a serious incident by the National Hockey League. As a result, Pavelski wasn’t suspended.

Mr. K & Lurker
We’ll be in 228 row 16. We’ll be the two girls who look too cool to be in lame old 228. Seriously, they sat us in some twilight zone section of the Tank were everyone leans.

Haha
Wait – that’s center ice. Good stuff. I THINK I’m in 213… not sure yet. If so, I’ll be to Brandon’s left (Lurker Shark). I’ll call him at the intermission so we can come chill with you two.

I'll be to his left as well.
Unfortunately for me, its directly to his left.
Sounds like a plan.
Getting away from Shughart for a while sounds like an even better plan.

As a result, Pavelski wasn’t suspended.
They finally got something right. I suppose it was too much to ask for an apology

Jokinen AND Leopold????
That’s downright sinister – and against the Flyers at home no less! Toss in Cammalleri (an LA King last year) and you’ve got yerselves a sparkling bunch of Flamers…
Although 4 goals on 19 shots – what, did Niittymaki shit himself?

Prepare yourselves, Fins
If we don’t reclaim #1 in the West, the most probable semifinal opponent would be Calgary.

Exactly
Detroit can do our dirty work for us, as far as I’m concerned…. but only if we keep the #1 seed, since Detroit and Calgary have virtual locks on the division.
Speaking of which – what’s our magic number for the division, again? There are only 20 more games, counting tonight.

I, on the other hand, have tomorrow off. Which is good, since I had about two hours of sleep last night. I’m running on empty here, which means that I’m extremely punchy and find random things hilarious. Ye be warned.
If this game is anything like a stereotypical Wild game, I’m probably going to fall asleep during the first period. Granted, I might fall asleep no matter what.

And I think we have a fight song, but nobody knows it. The school has been completely devoid of spirit for a loooooong time, and just now is ASB getting it back. We actually have spirit rallies now, where I guess we are supposed to learn the fight song, but being seniors we figure that it doesn’t matter at this point.
There is the retarded Leland chant, though. “L-L-L-E-L! A-A-A-N-D! L-E-L! A-N-D! Goooo Leland!”
I was loving the first 35 minutes
Then wam bam it’s a game again, and worry has crept back in. Stats to keep in mind:

That sucked
Pavelski, Michalek, Clowe, Boyle, Lukowich, and Cheechoo were like the only guys who showed up to play the entire game. I propose that the second line officially becomes the first. Thornton pretty much only showed up in OT. Seriously, Joe? If you played the entire game the way you played the last shift, the Sharks would have won. In regulation.
I love the guy, but Boucher’s confidence has just been slipping more and more as these games go by. That last horrible one probably shot the team’s confidence as well. I’m guessing he’ll be in net on Saturday, so hopefully he’ll get his confidence back. If not, I wouldn’t be adverse to playing – gulp – Greiss.
I’m still in shock right now. How the hell did they blow that?

Fear the Fin....where being an old guy isn't all bad
Got back just a bit ago
So, the game was great until it went from 3-0 to 3-2 in about a minute. Then, not so much.
At least the FTF meet up was successful. A big plus.

Yeah meeting y'all was the highlight of the night.
That and Pavs hitting the 20 goal mark. We tried to find you again after the game, we decided to go to Tied House, but I think we missed you.
There was also a Cafepress box waiting for me when I got home. The stuff looks good guys.
