Ever since Sunday, this week has felt like a month. Something tells me Friday and Saturday are going to feel like a year.
Not much can be said about today. It's literally the moment that the city of San Jose has looked forward to all season- from the fanbase, to the coaching staff, to the players themselves. Below is some of the work we have done over the past week, as well as a couple other previews we liked (namely because they picked San Jose to win).

well this pretty much sucks i can't watch the game i'm pissed,
i guess i will have to go to the bathroom/bar frequently to get updates. Leaving for vacation today and then will be going out to dinner at 6:00, hopefully i will be home in time to see the sharks dominate the third period but we shall see, i will be here with my thoughts.

Unfortunately, I am going to be out of town until Sunday night.
Good news is, I’m going to be in LA/Anaheim, so I’ll still be able to watch the game tonight (oh, and my dad – who’s driving – is dead set on not missing any second of Sharks playoff hockey, so that’s another plus).

Well, I suppose the good news is that I’m so neck-deep in Hayward homerism that I can largely ignore it — the whining goes right past me now.
It took a while and a lot of hard (liquor) training, but I think I can say that I’m successfully numb to the guy now. It’s an improvement.

I'm torn between wanting a sweep
and wanting to score tickets for game 5, because the game is 2 days before my wedding anniversary and that would be the perfect place to celebrate. (My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary at the Preds/Sharks matchup in 2006 and had a blast.)

shows Sharks on CSN-BA at 7:30; Vs. shows Calgary/Chicago at 6:30, with Ducks/Sharks joined in progress at 8pm. (First game at 4pm is C-bus/Detroit which should be an interesting matchup; are the Jackets and their young goalie for real or is it a case of their reach exceeding their grasp?)

On the CSNBA website they show Giants at 7:00 and Sharks in HD at 7:30 with a “*”. I’m not sure what the * is for.

I work in north SJ but took time to drive by the Shark Tank, there was a really large square banner laying in front of the tank, couldn’t read it, perhaps they’ll hoist it as I think it’s wrong to stomp on players faces. I got all giddy driving by. Here’s to the Sharks dominating; otherwise you may hear Sasquatch like screaming coming from the redwoods in Felton, CA.

or logos — the Stanley Cup Playoff logo and the “This is Sharks Playoff Territory” signs; could be they were covered up to be revealed as part of the pre-game festivities (I think there was going to be a rally on Autumn Street as per usual practice; thought about going down there but I’m trying to get rid of a cold that lasted a couple of weeks).

Yeah
I think it’s their third CCS Football title. First one since 1990 or 80 something.
As for soccer it is still dominant. They won CCS. My bio teacher is the varsity soccer coach so my class gets the inside scoop. He tells us that they sometimes have to hold back to not embarrass the other team. He said he never lets the score go to double digits and tries to only win by 7 at most.

Padres Ring The Bells
Bellarmine’s football team was undefeated, ranked number three in the state by CalHi Sports and number one in Northern California by all polls going into Friday night’s game at San Jose City College against the Padres. The Bells are undefeated no more as the Padres headed home up US 101 with a 31-23 hard fought victory and a three way tie for first place in the WCAL. It was the second straight year the Padres have played the Bells when they were undefeated and the second straight year they knocked them out of those ranks.

As most of you know I go to school at UCSB. Central California, split 50-50 with kids from Norcal and Socal.
Today it was insanity. Pure insanity. At least 40 kids apiece from both fanbases wearing jerseys (yours truly included). Talking shit at lunch. Talking shit on the bikepath. Talking shit in lecture. It’s a goddamn circus out here.

Junior year, can’t wait to get out. Not because I dislike it (I love it actually), but because Sharks season tickets will most likely be my graduation present.
On an semi-related non-Sharks note, I think it’s ridiculous parents get their kids graduation gifts after helping to pay for their education. I’ll take it now, but if I don’t pay my dad back by the time I’m thirty I don’t know how I’ll be able to live with myself.

We'll get season tickets
for the 2011-12 season; my husband retires in June of 2011 so we’ll actually be able to get to weeknight games (and we’ll sell the tickets we can’t use to offset the cost). With his schedule, we’re pretty much limited to Fri/Saturday nights or Sunday afternoons, unless we’re lucky and the Sharks are home during a vacation week (like beginning of March).
Birds have been banned in the city.

For what it’s worth, head coaches rarely come out and watch the other team’s morning skate. That task falls to the rest of the staff. But as I type, McLellan is standing aobut 10 feet to my right, in the opening where his team will skate out in about 7.5 hours, arms folded across his chest, and watching the Ducks.
So awesome.
