Playoffs? We're Talking About Playoffs?

Well, I said that I would start to post again when it comes playoff time and Mr. Plank is saying that this weekend against the Ducks is the first playoff atmosphere weekend so here I go!!! Here's the standings as of the moment I'm typing.

I'm looking for the Canucks to win their division over the Flames. They've played better over the last 10 games than the Flames have. Plus, this would mean the Chicago and Calgary would play in the first round. I really don't like either of them, but at least in this scenario, 1 of them is guaranteed to be gone after 1 round.

And now, I'm going to try to attempt to kind of break down that giant cluster~~fuck~~ in the middle of the conference. Other people call this the 6-8 seeds. But don't worry, after I attempt this, I'm sure some of the moderators of this site will tell me how wrong I am in the comments. Either that, or they'll agree with me and then they'll give real reasons why my predictions will come true.

I'm thinking that Columbus finally makes the playoffs and stay in 6th place because Rick Nash says so. They'll face the Northwest division winner, and I honestly believe that the series will last 6 or 7 games. Will they win? Hell, I don't know, I hope they do, I love Cinderella stories (but I hate Cinderella).

The Ducks will drop out of the playoff picture, "if" the Sharks beat them this weekend, which means the Blues will take over the 7 seed and the Predators will take the 8 seed.

So with that said, here is my top 8 in the Western Conference:

Sharks
Red Wings
Canucks
Blackhawks
Flames
Blue Jackets
Blues
Predators

Pesonally,

I think it would be a little anti-climactic to face Nashville in the 1st round again. This is supposed to be new territory for us in the post-season (maybe the 1st overall seed, maybe first time in a couple years we go in not as the Cup favorite), but he we are playing the Predators again. That being said, that’s probably the most ideal 1st round match-up for us, given the fits Columbus and St. Louis usually give us. As for the playoff picture, I’ve given up on trying to predict it until the last day of the season.

columbus is in for sure, your playoff picture looks good but I’ve got a feeling we’re going to end up with a less comfortable playoff matchup than most of us would like

I’m not sure if the entire Central division will stay in the playoffs like in your scenario – all five teams are almost exclusively playing each other, and so will deny each other points (unless Detroit and Chicago continue on their paths of indifference and drop all their games, and therefore help their division brethren in). And I honestly don’t see the Ducks dropping out of the playoffs, no matter what happens this weekend. But who knows – the Ducks only have 4 games left, and this back-to-back with the Sharks is crucial for them.

…And I just read the first poll option. Haha, wow, did I perpetuate that impression or what.

Oh, and the mix-up of “your” and “you’re” in the poll options is really starting to bother me, lol.

So I’m gonna have to go with the first one too. Just because. I’ve kinda got mixed feelings about seeing the Preds first round again. If it means avoiding St. Louis and Columbus, let’s do it.

The numbers are rounded

The 38% is actually 38.46%, for example.
