Final Game FinFest
I've been kicking this idea around for a while: An FTF meetup before the last regular-season home game on Thursday night. With the Sharks' magic numbers at 3 and 6 (vs. Detroit and vs. Boston, respectively) it could possibly be the game that clinches the Sharks' first-ever Presidents Trophy.
What better way to witness that than by knocking back a few (or more) with the people you've been spending the season with? (And no, I don't mean Randy, Drew, Dan, and Jamie.)
I've mentioned this around these parts before, and a couple people showed interest, but I'd like to put this out there in a more concrete form than an off-the-cuff comment in a game thread. So: Who's down?
Thursday's game starts at 7:30, and I was thinking of getting started around 5, to allow for plenty of time to make the walk to the Tank and get settled in.
But, not being too familiar with downtown San Jose, I have no idea where a suitable venue is to be found. Anywhere where with easy access to adult beverages (or at least the absence of any strict prohibition) is preferred, and being within walking distance to the Arena is essential. Any ideas?
P.S.: Everyone is welcome, so bring whomever. As long as they're not Wings or Ducks fans.
UPDATE: Brittania Arms (map), 5 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2009. Be there. If you can't be there, be here. No absences excused without doctor's note.

I still haven’t been able to find 3 tickets that won’t cost me an arm & a leg. So looks like I’ll be watching this game from home with my boys. Otherwise, I (and my kids if in a kid friendly environment) would have been in.
Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality?

I don't have tickets to the game...
But I get off work at 5. I’ll walk down to the Brit (Brittania Arms) for a quick drink!

The Brit works
I’ll have the whole Famn Damily with me so it’s gotta be the Brit (otherwise, Patty’s would be the place to be). Even if it rains (which it might), the patio at the Brit is covered, so your beer won’t get watered down, unless it came that way out of the tap.
I might be able to be there by 5:30. (I’m coming from Antioch, so no promises!) I’ll definitely have a drink with the FTF crew!

The Brit is pretty solid...
I’m going to that game, so depending on when I get off work, I may wander down and meet some of yall. That would be pretty cool!
Sometimes the impossible can become possible if you're AWESOME!
Crap
I’m stuck in class till 7:00. I’ll be at the game and if anyone wants to meet up there or afterward I can do that.

I will also be at tomorrow's game

Gray and I are going to the game
I can’t speak for her about stuff but I’ll definitely try to make a cameo at this. I get off work in Concord at 3.30 and have to work the next morning so no promises.
Besides...

Awesome.
This kind of thing seems to be a fairly common occurrence around here.

I’ll be in a middle era teal Roenick jersey. We should be pretty easy to find.

awesome
we’ll be looking for you!
To warn you in advance I sound like I have a cold, but it’s hay fever. I promise I won’t infect you with my allergies.

I may swing by too.
It’s not as bad as the hike over to 223 from my seat.

It wasn't a cake walk to 210, either! :)
Altho I did avoid the Dippin Dots crowd on the way back…

Wanna meet up between periods some where? Text me… I’m 4082211735.
If Brandon is really showing up to the Brit at 6 though, we might be a little scatterbrained at the tank. Ha.

I promise I won’t be that bad. Don’t wanna make a bad first impression haha.

just tell us you bought the jersey and you always vote for the upper bowl and we’ll be peachy. lol
resident cartoonist @couchtarts.blogspot.com
I bought the jersey
and I pay for my tickets. I completely understand the elasticity of demand, the lower bowl should never get any of the prizes/swag. Haha.
For the record, I have never once received a prize. I am not a crook!

I appreciate your sympathy. After talking to me all year, it’s nice to know that you will not place final judgement upon me based solely upon the location of my tickets.
For this, I am eternally grateful.

we don't have a choice, really
to sit upstairs they make you sign a contract hat has clauses about mocking the lower bowl. They’ll boot us out and make us watch all the games on Versus if we don’t comply.

I would usually defend one of you against the other...
but us lower bowl types are too busy getting our food brought to us.

That's the plan.
I’ll be there as long as Central, 101 and 280 don’t conspire against me.

I think that's the trick right there.

I think I saw you guys near the DD at the 2nd intermission last night, but I’m kinda shy about meeting people. Is that the normal chill out spot for FTFers?
Twas last night...
We’ll do it again sometime, and I’ll make sure I’m nice and welcoming!

Brittania Arms it is!
I’ll be there with a non-FTFer buddy hopefully by 4:45, depending on what sort of mood BART and VTA will be in. Look for the handsome guy in the Nabby jersey and a black hat (that’ll be me). I might be wearing a nametag, too.
And since it seems that some people might not be able to make it before the game, maybe a quick visit during an intermission in a central location? We’re in section 221, row 16.
So, center ice?
I can’t make the Brit, but let me know when and where to meet during the game.

I won’t be around tonight… but meet at Dippin Dots, 109. It’s a tradition.

Clarify: Can’t make it to Brit, or the game. But I will be online.

More like
we MAY be at the Brit, but WILL be at the game.
We’ll have to meet up during intermission or after some place. Center ice where?
resident cartoonist @couchtarts.blogspot.com
On the logo?
Dippin Dots or somewhere closer to your section works. I’m not going to have access to a computer between now and the game so just text me where ever you guys decide on and I’ll see you there.

Sorry, y'all
got into town way later than I planned. It was soggy and no tables were to be found at the Brit.
So, what in the knick-knack-paddywack-give-a-dog-a-bone is going on around here? — Dan Rusanowsky
Well, that didn't work as planned
We didn’t get to the Brit until about 6pm, and it was pretty crowded. Didn’t see anyone there, probably because I have no idea what any of you look like.
Left for the Tank at around 6:45, headed over to 228, row 16 during the first intermission. Got some strange looks from the people seated there. Note to self: Do not say “I’m looking for two women” unless you can provide more information than that.
Headed over to Dippin’ Dots behind 110 during the second intermission. Once again, I didn’t see anyone. Or maybe I did, but I just didn’t recognize anyone.
Sorry about that.
yeah sorry
We didn’t have our Shark Pak seats for the final game and I wasn’t aware of where we’d be sitting until it was too late to tell you guys. There was a small group outside 228 for the first intermission, and then Mina and I were outside it for the second. But not knowing what you all looked like, we probably saw each other and had no idea.
I headed to Dipping Dots during the first intermission and did run into an FTFer, but that was more random than anything else.
