[RUMOR] Chris Pronger traded to L.A. Kings
Looks like the Prongernator has a new home, although BOC seems to doubt the deal went down. If the deal happens as reported, the Ducks will recieve Jack Johnson and the 5th overall pick in this year's draft. Both the Kings and Ducks deny that the trade is final.
UPDATE: Trade just announced on KNBR, so I'm assuming it's legit.

Back that crazy train up!
I see other places reporting it, but what team(s) make a deal on the day of a game 7 in the SCF?! Isn’t that verboten, or something?
That fact alone makes me dubious. But we’ll see.

Certainly, there can be no official deal anyway between teams until the Stanley Cup is won tonight. The roster freeze that goes into effect at the NHL trade deadline remains in place until the season is over – for purposes of fairness, more than anything else.
So we’ll have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow for the official word…unless “NO” is the official word.

Still dubious
having read Spector’s info on it.

Yea...
But I’ve heard multiple mass media outlets confirm this, so we’ll see.
If it’s true… that’s a steal of a deal for Anaheim.

BOOOOOOO!
With a trade to LA We still get too many chances to boo Pronger in my opinion.

This puts some interesting spin on the Heatley rumors...
If the Kings make this trade, it might take one suitor out of the Heatley deal. Unless, like Sir Snipesalot told me on the phone two seconds ago, you believe that the Kings could be positioning themselves to ship Pronger to Ottawa for Heatley, although I doubt that Ottawa would make that deal without the 5th pick.
If it does take another player out of the race for Heatley, does it mean the Sharks have more leverage in a deal now? I would immediately take Marleau/Michalek/2nd Rnder for Heatley/1st rnder. I’d switch Michalek for Ehrhoff and do it even faster.
Fear the Fin: Where we just have to want it more!
I still think getting rid of Marleau is an enormously BAD idea. I’d also like to keep Milan. Not being won over on the scenarios involving Heatley that have been tossed about of late. Not saying I wouldn’t want him, I just don’t like the ways we think it could go down.

Love Marleau, love Milan...
But there’s a point where you just have to say f&^* it and blow it up. Not to say that’s what I want, but I’d rather have Heatley than Drury or whatever other hot smell is out there.
Ottawa has to include their first round pick to make this deal doable in my opinion.

if you’re giving up that much, yes, I want a 1st rounder for it.
I dunno, I’m not tossing Patty under the bus. I have a feeling he may not be Captain this coming season, but that’s just my gut talking and it’s hungry, so who knows if it’s telling me the truth.

Not tossing Patty under the bus either, but to get a guy like Heatley you have to give something up. I think that trade makes the Sharks better, who knows.

I guess we’ll see what DW has in store for us soon, ne?

Don't you see now...
why I wanted a sweep?
I think a Heatley deal will drag for a bit though, might be a draft day thing. The Blues are supposed to be big players, but I don’t think they’ll mortgage their future to get him. They’d likely have to part with one of Perron, Boyes, or Oshii and their first rounder… don’t think I’d do that.

eh
I’m fine letting it take a little more time. That way we don’t run out of things to talk about by July 2nd. (hopefully….)

Totally off topic...
lol I was remembering the State of the Sharks address, and I believe the FTF group sat right next to me. I remember some dude in a suit with a notepad who asked me if I could move down a seat and just a few minutes ago I went back and looked at the “State of the Sharks Pre-Event…” post and read that TCY was the one wearing a suit. I was the guy in the dark gray t-shirt and blue jeans with the backpack on the floor drinking a Sierra Mist next to TCY. Sorry for the off-topic comment. I have a really good memory and sometimes tend to remember useless stuff. Anyway, back to FTF…
Sounds good, except....
I do not think trading Marleau is the right thing in this situation. Trading him or Joe is most likely the only way we can get Heater, but I would be more comfortable sending Cheech and Ehrhoff instead of Marleau, although I would probably never forgive myself because I love cheech. Still have my whistle from 05-06 and bring it to every game I go to.

unforunately he's not the cheech of old,
we don’t want him and it doesn’t appear that anybody else does. I’m seriously sad though this was my guy and to seem him play now is definitely sad but that season was incredible.
I don't like you Detroit.
I love it, the Penguins win the Stanley Cup last night and there isn’t a front page headline about it on either Yahoo Sports or ESPN today and you go to Pronger’s News & Notes page and nothing. I will go to my grave trying to figure out why the fuck basketball is more popular than hockey.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
Advertising wise, I would agree with you. Watching wise, basketball might be the worst sport ever; particularly the last 2 minutes, which should be the best part. Plus, with that much scoring, each point is [essentially] worthless.
Any grammar nerds in here? Was that a proper use of a semicolon? Me failed English.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
I hate basketball, ESPECIALLY the final minutes.
Foul, foul, foul, foul, foul… puhlease.

It really destroys the drama. I keep hoping they’ll change the rules somehow to stop the foul frenzy, because I might then enjoy watching. It’s unlikely to happen though.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
My dad advocated that if a player commits a foul, he has to stay off the court for a minute, making his team short-handed. He also added that players should be able to change on the fly.
I like it, and might actually start watching basketball if its implemented, but it’ll never happen, since its too much like hockey.

i'm not going to come out and tell you that you're wrong
cause you’re not everybody likes different stuff and is wired differently, a lot of people are going to say hockey sucks baseball sucks golf sucks basketball sucks. I’m just saying that a vast majority of America disagrees and thinks the games have tremendous drama, when it comes down to the last possession i definitely agree thats awesome to watch and drama, but you have a very valid point. I like all sports (yes including the boring ones (tennis, golf, baseball (widely considered the most boring sport=wrong you idiots okay i can’t say that)), so I watch basketball obviously and think it has been a good series.
I don't like you Detroit.
Fully agreed on all counts
And the Magic really shit the last game away.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
Playoffs are brutal like that
As any Sharks fan knows.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
yeah
but in hockey it is just so much easier to pull a massive upset a la ducks, basketball it just doesn’t happen often, yeah the warriors did it but other than that it just doesn’t happen every year the top teams are going to be in the mix, thats why i think the cup is the hardest to win in all of sports
I don't like you Detroit.
Another complaint about basketball
Home court is too valuable. It should have some value, but the best teams win what, like 85% of their home games?
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
We
all got our own opinions. Personally basketball is my favorite sport and the sport that i grew up watching and learning, with the Warriors being my diehard team. But the Sharks and hockey is right behind that.
Yeah
As mattman said, it truly is a personal opinion, and I hope you don’t take my complaints with the game personally. Some people say cucumbers taste better pickled.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
WHAT?
I thought that was just a myth!

Some people?
Try the rest of the world!!
Being from England, Football was a big part of my life for a very long time. (Sorry, can’t call it Soccer, it doesn’t sound right) The pace is very different from all other American sports. It’s not to the taste of everyone. Not as fast paced as hockey, but faster paced than baseball. It doesnt require all of your attention, but it requires more than baseball.
American’s will always have a tough time with football because you never see the talent in the game that the rest of the world has in it’s leagues. I wouldn’t follow any MLS teams because they are basically made up of one or two talented guys (most likely at the end of their career) and the rest are Busch League nobodies.

Yep.
If the rest of the world likes it there has to be something good about it… right?
I just don’t see it and probably won’t ever see it. I try not to bash soccer football though because football fans can just as easily say American sports are boring.
With both teams denying the deal....
Does this mean it will become official on Draft day, or will there be different players involved in the deal than now?

i would hope the Ducks have to give up more
to get a young promising blue liner and a really really high draft pick
even though Pronger is good, he’s getting old and expensive and that would free up the Ducks cap to sign another star player to go along with Jack and whoever they pick :(

As constructed, this trade would be a coup for the Ducks.
