Fear the Fin: Where we just have to want it more!
For those who haven’t seen it yet, this Excel sheet is a whole lot of fun. I’ve had a blast with it the last 24 hours.
Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to see San Jose’s draft history.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
Why oh why
does all the fun staff happen when I’m at work! The tv there will be showing the WNBA and poker. sigh…..

Hmmm. Not sure if nhl.com will have a radio feed, but assuming you work in front of your computer, keep this thread open and keep up with all the transactions.

You know what bugs me to no end? Using the same word twice in a sentence. That’s going to bug me all day, especially because it’s the fourth comment in.

Fifth comment in actually. This is getting worse by the minute.
I’ll shut up now.

Excellent
it has been done. If that cheechoo trade goes through I will go outside and pour some soda water on the ground in his honor. Probably even grab a tall can during my break.

Unfortunately
I will miss the first two hours of the draft because I am going to see “The Hangover”, here’s hoping we land Dany Heatley or someone WITHOUT trading Joe or Patty.

I'm here
Just woke up (ahhh, summer).
Regarding Clowe, well, I don’t know what to think. If DW is able to sign him to a decent contract, then we’ll probably see him next year. But if teams are offering severe overpayments for him, then I could see DW trade him.

marleau in the middle (with the A!!!!), Joe on the top middle, Olli jokinen somewhere

Yup
Those three were the ones that I recognized: Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, and Roberto Luongo. Four, if you include Joe Thornton’s hair.

Very true. He should totally come back from the off-season with that same exact hair cut.

You sure he didn’t have that hair during the postseason? I don’t remember seeing Vlasic….

And then we could totally play with six skaters, but whenever a linesman looks over, Vlasic could jump right back into his hair! It will be epic.

I have a feeling it might just be the top NA prospects, because I looked up Helsinki’s jersey and it looks like nothing those guys are wearing.
And yeah, that guy’s face is weird. But what’s killing me are all those blunt middle parts with the hair curling in towards the face. Sooo weird.

I kind of feel sorry for Farrah. She timed her special so she could get the cover of People magazine, but then Kirstie Alley got fatter or something, so she didn’t get it. And then she dies, and was all but assured of getting the cover of People then, but then MJ dies a few hours later and steals the cover right out from under her.
Oh, and I choose to think that MJ never turned white, that Thriller was his last album, and he’s still the cute kid that sang Rockin’ Robin while in the Jackson 5.

he is one of the best in the business and a class act at that. I would gladly welcome one of the best nhlers to my club instantly.

Pronger is a force, and he might be dirty at times, but I think alot of the hate was because Sharks fans wished he was a Shark.

Read this…

The Ducks should be considered the frontrunner to sign him, although San Jose, Vancouver and Calgary are also believed to have strong interest."
So it’s Nieds to the Sharks, not Pronger…

can someone clarify
if San Jose doesn’t want to match another team’s offer, can Clowe choose to stay in SJ for less?
by a10dency2ask on Jun 26, 2009 6:08 PM PDT up reply actions
I believe this is how it works
Clowe can pretty much choose whatever team he wants to be on, with one exception. If another team gives him an offer sheet and he signs it (meaning that he wants to play there), the Sharks can match that offer sheet and keep Clowe. Other than that (and the compensation that other teams have to give if they sign him away), its the same as a UFA.
So basically, yeah, the Sharks don’t have to offer Clowe as much money as other teams and he can still choose to stay here.

Eh, I’m not too disappointed or anything. Sure it would be nice to have a first rounder, but it’s likely we will be giving up a good roster player for a guy who will take years to be on the team (if he even cracks the NHL at all).
Lots of volatility in the draft. Once you get down to this level of picks, no one’s a slam dunk.
Cheech and Buffalo’s second might get us in late, but I don’t think it’s going to happen (i.e. Cheech’s value probably isn’t that high).

Just got back.
Really pissed to see Dany Heatley talks are dead, hopefully the Sharks are able to plug holes later. Otherwise, I just got back from “The Hangover”, that was so funny, but the credits were kind of disturbing lol.

Pornish....
Underdescribes it. I was amazed they got away with it, still a great comedy though.

“Pornish” and “disturbing” don’t sound like they go together.
In fact, that sounds like a Friday night. Ah, look at the time folks, time for me to go!

I guess I’m glad he doesn’t make the crazy trade just to shake things up, but on the other hand, he said he would shake things up. Sometimes you have to be crazy to do that.

resident cartoonist @couchtarts.blogspot.com. Endorsed by Mr. K on "CINCODEMYOOR!!!!!"
No, not at all. But you can’t say things are going to change, things will change, and then sit silent. They were passively involved in a few rumors, but I doubt the validity of the Clowe stuff, and everyone and their mom wanted Heatley…

we don’t know what he tried to do though. So I tend to give GMs the benefit of the doubt in this situations because I really have NO idea what he was trying to do and who he was talking to and what sorts of things fell through before they ever became newsworthy. Its our perception of what change should be vs what he can really do.
It helps that I am came into this not expecting the Sharks to do anything in R1. I expect more action once free agency hits.

Fear the Fin: Where we just have to want it more!
by Matthew_Taylor on Jun 26, 2009 7:41 PM PDT up reply actions
I totally do
but as Mina was just saying to me, it’s pointless to get yourself worked up and frustrated about it when there’s nothing you can do about it. You can sit there and be upset about the direction you think the team is going, but realistically you can’t expect DW to tell you everything that’s happening. He can say he’s going to be as transparent as possible but your idea of transparency and the type of transparency that’s allowable and workable in the NHL are two different thing.
So stop worrying about it, and start mocking people’s suits.
