Will Wrenn

I played against that kid. He is pretty good. Big physical defenseman with a good shot. He should play in a few years

Haha

Apparently, Dominik Bielke’s father Rene Bielke is a legendary East Germany goalie. So, instead of drafting a goalie, DW drafted the son of a goalie. Nice to know that he still sticks with what he knows, even in a round-about way.

His dad, however, was a legend for the Ottawa 67’s. Along with founding them in 1967 at the ripe age of seven, he led them to fifteen straight Memorial Cups during the 80’s.

Wow

The guy must be amazing, winning 15 Memorial Cups in only 10 years. I hope it rubs off on his kid.

It was actually a biannual tournament during that time.

The 80’s were absolutely bonkers.

I can imagine.

You know what else is crazy? The Islander’s draft party’s reaction to Tavares being drafted (video here, among many, many others).
