Nice!
And its actually around how much I’d thought (hoped) it would be – $1.5M is a pretty steep decline in pay for a defenseman who got 45 points, but his second-highest PIMs total (mostly from hooks/interference, some from a well-placed Perry spear that I’m sure we all enjoyed) and the salary cap crunch necessitated that he’d be paid less.
But anyways, yay! The old guy with the wicked shot is back :)

Paycut?
If you listen closely enough, you can hear the shouts of “Buck Flake!” all the way from LA. Now we just need to re-up JR for one more year, so we’ll once again be peachy keen on the rivalry front with our purple pals in So*Cal

God that movie was atrocious. I didn’t see it, but I knew a few good men who did.
Wound up dead two days later. Corneas singed to a goddamn crisp.

I love how all the old guys that were underperforming for the Kings are doing so well up here, contributing to the team and taking massive paycuts. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Guess all the LA fans who said he was all about the $$ were wrong.
This move gives credence to the story the the real reason Blake left LA was the organization jerked him around.

Damn
Beat me to it Swisher… lol… This is the best news we have gotten in a while… If blake can stay healthy next year he will be worth the money.

Hey
I’m getting text updates from my friend while I’m at work… They are saying a possible Marleau/Nabby trade for Heatly (sp?)… Can anybody else corroborate this??!!

Whaaaaaaaa.
No idea, but I’ll try and dig something up. That’s overpaying to the nth degree. Horrible horrible potential move.

Doubt it
Marleau and Nabby both have NTCs, and we’d have to be taking on salary in return ($11M to Sens, $7M to us).
And, yeah, as Plank said, its just horrible.

Agree with mymclife up there- it really restricts our opportunity to delve into the free agent market (especially with Clowe likely to make around 3 million), but it’s a price you have to pay.

Yeah for sure
I told my buddy he was smokin pole if he thought that was legit… I would think maybe one or the other but definitely not both… And yes, at the same time I’m still confused on how we could get rid of 2 NTC’s unless Marleau is truly tired of DW and Nabby just quits. We get Heatly and sign Gustavsson?? hmmmmm…. That’s some twilight zone shit right there…

Nice
I’m hoping the lower paycheck means fewer hooking penalties. That may be too much to ask, but I’ll still take it.

Blake being back is pretty sweet...
3.5 mil is probably the best we could have hoped for. That’s a 1.5 mil paycut for a player who was among the best last season as far as point production goes. We’ll still need to make some trades to free up some cap space…but this is way better than 5 million.

so what do you guys think the chances are of ro-ro coming back?

No idea really
It seems like Wilson is keeping him at arms length during this “change” process. I’m not sure JR wanting to come back necessarily means he has a spot on the roster next season.
I remember him mentioning at the NHL Awards that his decision would come in two weeks. My guess is around the 5th when the roster is a little more shored up?

it just seems like if he still thinks we're a contender...
he would kick himself if we went onto win the cup in 1-2 seasons after his retirement. Then again, maybe he’s waiting on the moves to try to decide the odds of that
