Barring anything out of the ordinary, here's what we have planned for the next week. I'm lazin' too hard to write anything at this moment, but figured putting it out for the millions (and millions) of FTF's fans would force me to eventually get on the ball.

1) Saturday, July 11th. Plank looks at the roster, tears up at the lack of cap room, and makes some hard decisions on who should be moved. Meargh.

2) Monday, July 13th. Sign ups for the NHL 09 Xbox Live Fear The Fin Invitational commence. Rules will be provided, teams will be assigned, visions of sugarplums will dance in all the wee little children's heads. This weekend dust off your controller, hit the couch, and practice your breakouts. You're gonna need it.

3) Tuesday, July 15th. Coming to a computer near you on some serious tape delay via Hulu.com, it's a mothatruckin' open thread of epic proportions. Game seven of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Jarome Iginla and the hated Calgary Flames. An entire season boiling down to sixty minutes. Can the Sharks rebound from getting shut out in game six? Will Soupy make another soft play along the defensive zone boards? Can the wily veteran Jeremmmmy Roeeeeeeniiiiick save the day? Tune in Tuesday at 7:00 PM to find out!!!

4) Friday, July 17th. Remember the playoffs? Ah, sorry about that. Let me put it this way- remember the Playoff Pick Em! tournament we ran during the playoffs? Yeah, still haven't gotten around to that. Next Friday you get your winner, runner up, and allotment of bragging rights.

As David Pollak of Working The Corners noted yesterday, a move for a fourth line center is just around the corner. Stay tuned ladies and gentlemen.

Can’t wait to hopefully watch Game 7 with you guys. Question though, who do you think the fourth line center is that they are looking for and does this mean Torrey Mitchell is our 3rd line center?

Well, Torrey has to sign. I actually think they are waiting to sign him until they free up some cap room as not to but up directly with the limit.

I’ve heard Nichol’s name thrown around, but DNW.

I’d have to assume Mitchell is going to be our third line center- he might be in negotiations a la Clowe last season where we didn’t hear anything until August. Lots of parallels there, with the injury situation etc. My guess is he gets a one year deal.

As for the fourth line center, I’ll take a look at the free agent pool later today and put it in the piece for tommorow. Too busy this afternoon to come up with anything worthwhile.

That’s really cool list.

I’m still wondering if the available centers on that list or through TSN’s free agent tracker are going to be much help to us though.

This team still needs to dump salary. And if that’s the case, I don’t think we’re bound by just who is available on the FA market.

My gut says Doug Wilson is working out a multiplayer package, 2 of ours for 3 of theirs. Presumable a package of Cheechoo/Lukowich or something similar for a 3 guys who are 3rd or 4th liners. Maybe One of the three is a veteran, with two young physical guys. As Cheechoo and Lukowich have a combined cap hit of about $4.5 Mil, I’m assuming Wilson is looking for about $3-$3.5 Mil in return. Picks probably make up the difference.

I’m pretty sure JR could play wing, so I don’t think so. And really, you can never have too many guys who can take faceoffs.

I also don’t expect JR to be in the top 12. He’ll get time, but as a spare part so he’s healthy enough to play when it matters.

I’m looking forward to it. While it doesn’t have the whole excitement/nervousness of wondering whether or not the Sharks are going to win, it does come with that nice fuzzy feeling that they completely dominated. And, you know, its hockey. Nothing wrong with that.

Oh, and I nominate we watch Game 5 of the Dallas series next. Because while Game 6 didn’t exactly play out as planned, Pavelski’s OT goal is awesome.

Quick Question

when is the NHL 09 FTF thingy gonna start? I have NHL09, it just happens that my xbox360 is on the fritz. I’ll be getting an elite anyway, but definitely through ebay (just need the console itself, no power cords or the like). But shipping takes time, so just wondering if I’ll be fully operational in time for the tourney.

I hope I’ll not embarrass myself, because my definition of “practice” is playing 12 matches in a row of Team Kazakhstan vs Japan with my buddy, loser has to take a shot. Lose in the shootout? Two shots. Own Goal? Three shots immediately, can’t touch the controller till your done!

Ok, then it is official.

Sunday I destroy my 2 month savings and acquire myself a brand new shiny xbox. Oh wait today is Sunday! Bye bye money…WAIT WHAT I HAVE $100 IN MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT WTF IS THIS HUH WOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can actually afford this contraption! My goal of getting nice seats at the tank for a regular season game (ie front row,sharks shoot twice side, not behind the damn goal) are scratched. Epic fail and heart health notwithstanding, I’ll make sure my first game at the tank is when the shark head descends to the ice. After a good 9 months of labor and money discipline, I should have the cash.

TL;DR cause Joe is long winded jackass: I’m in. Looking forward to the application process proceedings tomorrow.

Update: my NHL09 disc was snapped by the elbow of the drunk friend that plays team Kazakhstan in my matches. Will seek used replacement. Also, this post was 13 1/2 hours in the making before i actually hit the fucking button.
