Doug Wilson on KNBR
I think the Shark's GM has his first offseason interview on a tape recorder, and he just holds it against the phone any time he does another one.
In all seriousness though, not a terrible interview.

The bit on Nabokov was interesting. I’ve been guilty of throwing out the fact that, “Player A has a Cup ring so he brings some intangibles to the team,” but was a little surprised to hear DW float that out in regards to Huskins- seems like old hat to me.
Solid piece.

Liked the comparison to Scuderi, though.

I caught that, too
Do you think there’s something to his mention? Maybe he went after Scuderi?
I like him mentioning Boyle, Mitchell, and Pavelski in the same breath. That makes me feel like they’re all safe and given more responsibility next season.
Will you guys link to the next interview, if there is one tomorrow as intimated?

I will link it if there is… but I doubt there will be another interview tomorrow.

Same here
Scuderi was a beast in the playoffs (particularly when he played goal, lol), and a guy that I’d want on the Sharks. But, since he went for his payday with the Kings ($3.4M per year for 4 years), he was out of reach for the Sharks. Re-signing a comparable player in Huskins for exactly half of that contract makes sense.
Oh, and the fact that he described Huskins as a player that would lay everything out on the ice – and saying that Pavelski, Mitchell, and Boyle are guys that do that as well – helps his image tremendously in my eyes. I mean, DW just named three of my favorite players, and included Huskins in that group. I like him and his contract a lot more than before.

Yeah, but Huskins is no where near the dynamo Scuderi is on the PK. I think it was more of a comparison to his hockey career path than playing style.
I think Huskins is going to be fine for San Jose on a bottom pairing, but I’m not expecting him to be a shutdown defenseman.

Agreed, I just like Scuderi alot and was glad Huskins was likened to him. Not expecting Rob Scuderi 2 by any means.

who died in the shadow of a monster
uh hello, more like Farrah Fawcett’s death was stolen from her by Michael Jackson. Which actually might not be so bad … she was classy and this way it did remain, like her, classy.

It will be interesting to see which Eastern Conference teams San Jose plays twice this season. Kind of bummed Philly doubled up last year without Pronger…
Anyways, since there’s nothing going on, what’s the one team you hope the Sharks have a home & home with? I’m going with the Rags. Montreal would be fun just to see Murray destroy that first line, but New York has Lundqvist. I love that guy.

Hm… I’m tempted to say either the Thrashers or Islanders because it’ll be a nice 4 points (plus seeing John Tavares in action would be pretty cool), but I think I have to either go with the Caps or the Bruins. Caps because not only are they good and exciting to watch, but the Sharks have owned them for the past 13 years or so. Bruins because those games are all but assured of being on Versus or NBC (DIDJA KNOW JOE THORNTON USED TO PLAY ON THE BRUINS????), and I like the Sharks getting nationally televised.

Capitals.
They are my second favorite team because Ovechkin is my favorite NHL player because of the way he plays the game. Them, or JT’s old team, the Bawstan Bruins (my attempt at a Boston accent through text)

Looks like we get the Caps twice.
Same with the Flyers, and it looks like we get the Bruins at home.

Caps, Flyers, and Sabres twice. Weird, I know.
Posted a fanshot linking to the schedule.
