NHL Free Agency Thread, July 2nd
Solid updates on Huskins from Ducks fans (yes, the serpents have invaded our humble home). Avert your eyes from the cap situation we all saw coming. Check out the Cheat Sheet if you're confused. Pour out yo' drink for Brian Boucher one more time. Be on the lookout for trades involving Luko, Michalek, Cheechoo, Ehrhoff, Nabokov, Murray... hell, anyone on the current roster. Prepare for DW to bide his time. Reminisce about the Thornton trade, remember Wilson swung a deal for Boyle on the 4th of July, pray the autopsy turned up something sensible, and find time to admire the computer tan you got yesterday.
Prediction: Clowe signs a 4 year $3.2 per contract. That's right, I'm ballparking baby- E5 city, mark it down.
Go Sharks.

Watching the Bouwmeester press conference, I just realized that Jay Bouwmeester is actually Darryl Sutter 30 years ago. The body language, the way they both talked and everything. Even they way they close their mouths is the same. Friggin’ Hilarious! (Their similarities that is, not this post and definitely not this bad photoshoop).

how do you not know you're pregnant?
by a10dency2ask on Jul 2, 2009 10:12 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well...
I have never personally been with child, but from what I have heard, you can actually still have your period, and not really gain much weight, and then find yourself popping a kid out 9 months later. It’s weird, but it happens. Even if your cycle stops or changes, some women are less than concerned by that sort of thing, so it’s entirely possible there were signs that were ignored.
As for the weight gain aspect, not all women gain a lot of weight when preggers, and some have to fight to keep weight ON. Not everyone gets morning sickness, either.
Discovery channel has a show about it, which would probably give some more medically sound answers, but I haven’t really been that into watching it. That whole idea is super creepy.

Check out the Sharks' site
It lists 10 forwards on the roster for next year…
Cheechoo
Clowe
Marleau
Michalek
Mitchell
Pavelski
Setoguchi
Shelley
Staubitz
Thornton
…which kind of makes sense in current way. I guess Staubitz is expected to play on the big club this year.
However, it gets more dicey when they only list 5 defensemen…
Boyle
Ehrhoff
Lukowich
Murray
Vlasic
…not counting the ones that have “officially”, but not really been signed.
Also, Boucher is gone since the goalies are listed as…
Greiss
Nabokov
I have to imagine that someone is actually in charge of the accuracy of that list, but they’re failing right now.

I don’t know if anyone has posted this.
The Panthers signed Jordan Leopold to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million.
Florida received the negotiating rights to Leopold when they dealt Jay Bouwmeester to Calgary. The two sides weren’t able to broker a deal prior to Leopold becoming a free agent on July 1, but they kept talking and made the deal. It makes losing Bouwmeester a little more palatable. Leopold had seven goals and 24 points with the Avalanche and Flames last season.

I don’t know if anyone has posted this.
The Coyotes signed defenseman Adrian Aucoin to a one-year, $2.25 million deal.
The veteran defender had 10 goals and 34 points last season with the Flames. He became expendable when Calgary signed Jay Bouwmeester to a contract. He will bolster the blueline with his big shot, especially on the power play.

The Coyotes signed Stefan Meyer to a one-year deal.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t released. Meyer’s rights were acquired in the deal that sent Steven Reinprecht to the Panthers in mid-June. He had 18 goals and 40 points in 65 AHL games last season and will be a depth player at best for the organization.

Only one word for Heatley drama: mess
Heatley’s Agent J.P. Barry: “I specifically told him two days ago, long before the trade happened, ‘Do not trade him to Edmonton until you have other options.’ And he turned around and consummated the trade despite my request. The result of which is that I get a phone call from a guy that I really respect in Steve Tambellini, who was excited, and I had to inform him what happened. – ”I think it was completely mishandled by [Murray]. It was a pressure tactic. He loaded up the gun and put the gun against our heads."
