Jeff Friesen attempts comeback with Polar Bears
33-yr old Jeff Friesen has earned a try-out contract with the Berlin Polar Bears of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
Friesen collected 516 points in 893 games during his NHL career and won the Stanley Cup '03 with New Jersey.
Last season Friesen didn't play after being released by the Sharks and the year before he played in just five games for Lake Erie of the AHL.

Hopefully, he can land an NHL job soon. I loved Friesen as a player, so sad when they traded him for Teemu.

I was devastated when they announced that trade
But I don’t understand why Jeff would take all last year off after hardly playing the year before if he had any interest in returning to the game. I was under the impression last season was it and if he didn’t make it, he’d retire and spend time with the family. It seems a little desperate to try another comeback in an Europe and especially a European country that isn’t even one of the bigger leagues.
But good luck Jeff, I still hold onto the dream we might see you in teal one more time.
