I just want to say I’m tired of hearing bout Heatley … can we either do something (without screwing ourselves) or say we have no intention of doing anything (again without screwing ourselves) … and move on.
Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality?

I really want this to be over. Really. No matter what the outcome.
But this is really the only thing to talk about. I haven’t accepted that JR is retiring.

Seriously
And how the hell are we on the clock here? Frakking Garrioch. Man might just be as bad at his job as Tim Kawakami.

Frakking Garrioch.
My sentiments exactly. It’s been fun to discuss, but it was HIS article that started both the MSM coverage at TSN and Yahoo.
The reasons to bring Heatley over have been pretty well hashed out, but for THIS TEAM with THIS SALARY STRUCTURE, anything more than Cheech, Ehrhoff and a 2010 1st is too much.
They're not getting this kind of coverage at "Hockey Night In Canada" folks! - Randy Hahn
I’m balking at the 1st. This is the first time in two years we’ve had one damnit, and I don’t want to lose it.
Plus, we only have four picks in the draft. At some point, we’re going to have to replenish our farm system, and trading away first round draft picks isn’t the way to do so.

How interesting
that DW offered the trade back in June, but apparently the clock just started running.
Women want to have sex, like, 15 minutes after you. So, if you can wait for 20, she’ll be chasing you for 5!
I’m willing to wait it out on this one. I still don’t know how this addresses a shortage of wingers for us, so I need to see more action before I pass judgment.

wait .. how did I totally miss that women and sex comment … cause it’s so not true!

How could a generalization about half (maybe 51%) of the population of the Earth not be true?

that women want to have sex 15 minutes after you? cause that is flat out wrong … perhaps the “you” is doing it wrong … cause if you were doing it right, they would want to have sex when you wanted to have sex … :)

Well, besides it being from a movie, as ZeroIndulgence figured, I think you’re underestimating the sex drive of a young man. It evens out at some point, but “doing it right” means playing it cool and ignoring what may be your first (or only) instinct.
It took me a while, but I finally found it here

Uh … underestimating the sex drive of a young man? You assuming women (young or old) don’t have strong sex drives?
Careful – you may not really want to answer that question … :)

My wife is 36. I know what I’m saying.
The window of acceptable mates for women is smaller than for men. This movie and quote are about being outside of that window, or on the fringe.
Jon Casey fan since '84
screw the movie … acceptable mates has nothing to do with sex drive … one can still have a strong sex drive but not willing to screw anyone that crosses their path … :)

I have a feeling...
that IF Dany Heatley does in fact get traded to the Sharks, he will demand a trade immediately afterward.

Wait a second here
I have no opinion one way or the other about Heatley (whether he’d be a good fit, or his character) but I do find this opinion weird.
He wanted out of Atlanta after a pretty horrific non-hockey-related tragedy, and I completely understand that. If you accidentally killed a coworker, would you psychologically be able to keep showing up to that workplace? Unlike you and me, hockey players can’t quit their job and move to a new city to start over.
And we have no idea what, if anything, Ottawa’s management has said privately to him that might make his desire to leave the Senators legitimate. He could be a whiner and a quitter, but any information leaked to the public is probably done tactically to benefit some party or other. So I take all of this with a grain of salt.
I think he was joking lol.

you can live through taxes too. Hell, I pay them several times a year and they haven’t killed me yet! Not physically, anyway…

death is death and we will all die eventually – by heart attack or something else … excessive / high taxes is something that screws us over without giving us any pleasure … :)

Apropos of nothing
I like libraries and parks and and an educated populace and maintained roads and a fire department that responds when I call 911 and shriek like a little girl that the house burning down.
But we’re not here to talk politics, amiright?
and I like people being held accountable for their actions, but that won’t happen anytime soon huh?
but you are right … hockey … not politics … :)

Anyone else think
that this clock’s going to continue to tick now that JR’s set to announce his retirement on Thursday? I doubt that DW is gonna want to sidetrack from his buddy JR’s thunder with a megatrade.
Unless the Rangers still have interest in Heatley, feels like it’s gonna be more of the same (waiting for nothing) in SJ.
I actually thought the exact same thing. We won’t be hearing any news on this issue until at least Friday, since Doug will pay JR respect and not steal his thunder.

I just wanted to put all the links together
Since they all came today.
First, TCY’s great write-up on the whole situation unfortunately got bumped down off the top of the main page.
Then came Puck Daddy/Wyshynski’s relatively objective yell at the media from Yahoo!
Followed by Ross McKeon’s ‘expert opinion’ because he used to be a beat writer for the Sharks (supposedly).
Finally, this post from Silver Seven, Ottawa’s SB Nation fansite provides us with thoughts from the enemy.
I don’t really know where is best to post this, but I hope this helps everyone. Oh yeah, I haven’t gotten any work done today!
