Torrey Mitchell: "It sucks, I don't want to linger all year, I want to come back uninterrupted." Logan Couture scores again
So this is what it's like to not have to dig for news!
WTC is in an updating frenzy, and there were some more interesting morsels in this one.
One, Torrey Mitchell is continuing to rehab, but still feels pain. He hopes to make it back sometime in the preseason.
Two, Couture scored for his second time in two days. (If the same holds true in his personal life, get some young man) I wonder where the "Couture continues to disappoint" crowd is now?

I wonder where the “Couture continues to disappoint” crowd is now?
He’s too soft. Also he has no heart (because he is a robot).
I was hoping for just Evgeni Malkin status… A.O. was a bit much, admittedly.
No Conn Smythe Trophy? He sucks.

I agree with Mitchell. It does suck when he’s hurt.
Also, my favorite part:
He and Devin Setoguchi are rooming together for the third year in a row, but have left Los Gatos for new digs in Saratoga. They were notorious for showing up at the Roenicks’ dinner table there, but also were scouting other dining options at the homes of some of their married teammates.
The two players have specific criteria they look for.
"It has to be someplace quick. We show up, eat and maybe stay awhile, but there are no expectations," Mitchell said, giving points to Joe Thornton’s wife Tabea for excellent appetizers.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but I was looking at former Sharks players who weren’t resigned and found that Tomas Plihal recently signed with a Finnish club. There are random links I found, but the team he signed for announced it on their site, so I’m pretty sure it’s legit.
I’m surprised no NHL team even gave him a shot (at least a tryout) as he was a serviceable NHL forward and could provide depth at any forward position and log minutes on the PK.
Oh, so that's where you edit your signature
I think being essentially “cut” by the team did much for his image. When your GM comes out and says there are going to be changes because we didn’t do so well, not being resigned, and not having anyone know you to begin with, isn’t much incentive to sign the guy. It also, at least to me, explains how Goc got signed for so cheap WITH a 2 way contract. His faceoff numbers probably helped him, but otherwise, basically being told you were part of the problem is no good.

I too was wondering where Plihal would go – he’s gone the route of Curtis Brown (who is in Switzerland, not Finland).

Couldn’t agree more, guys like Manny Malhotra are still out on the open market too. It’s been a tough year for free agents. I assume Malhotra will get a contract about twenty games in once the eventual league-wide injury bug hits, but maybe Plihal figured he should grab a paycheck that’s a certainty and not see if he could wait it out.

I don’t care if Cheechoo has a resurgence personally, as long as it doesn’t end up biting the Sharks in the butt. He wasn’t going to get top-six minutes anyways.

Jesus people, 44 comments and nothing about this quote? You’d think FTF was a chat room and not a… well, I guess it’s sort of a chat room.
Mitchell skated this summer under the trainer’s supervision, but there was a nagging pain. He continues to work out, though some exercises — squatting, for example — are out.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but between that and the fact that Mitchell is wary about playing in the preseason has me a bit concerned. Like I mentioned before, his game is reliant on speed, and lower body injuries that keep cropping up aren’t doing him any favors.
Maybe I’m just crazy and/or a pessimist, but it’s really not the best of news. My money’s on Couture starting in October- any takers? Five bucks, first come first served. Payable at FTF Night At The Tank.
Fear The Fin: Where Selling Your Soul Is The Likely Solution
that is a bit worrying
maybe the nagging pain is telling him to rest it some more?
I’d rather see him come in halfway through the season than not at all, no need to rush.
