San Jose, Stockton enter affiliation agreement

the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League have entered into a working agreement for the duration of 2009-10 season, Thunder head coach Matt Thomas announced today in conjunction with the Sharks....This agreement will serve as a supplement to the Thunder's continued working affiliation with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and the Springfield Falcons of the AHL.

Well...

I’m not a huge fan of our future NHL’ers playing in the ECHL and it’s quality of competition. I am a huge fan of not putting them on 3000 mile long flights to and from Woosta.

I’m an even bigger fan of just keeping the ones that have earned a spot in the NHL in the NHL. McGinn and Demers specifically, but also McLaren. Can we waive Stauby and see if he makes it to the AHL yet?… yeesh.

From what I can recall, the only NHL hopefuls they send to ‘AA’ are goalies – which is fairly typical across the League, otherwise it’s long shots and dreamers. I doubt a guy like Demers will actually dress for Stockton. If I was more CBA/Cap savvy I might have a better grasp on what exactly is going on here.
