Some might have noticed that I haven't been on here as much as usual, and that is because I have been focusing my attention on the Earthquakes' playoff run. It's the first time we have made the playoffs since the original team left for Houston at the end of 2005. (FUCK YOU ANSCHULTS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!! FUCK YOU!!!!!!!)
Anyway, on to the good news!!! The Earthquakes have just completed a stunning upset over the Red Bulls of New York. The Red Bulls won the first game here in San Jose 1-0, but San Jose came back hard and won game 2 by a score of 3-1, thus winning the series by aggregate 3-2 (sigh, I know, the MLS playoffs are weird, but it could be worse, the Premier League doesn't even have playoffs.) Its a good cinderella story because last season we finished 2nd to last in the league (Red Bulls were dead last) plus no one gave us a shot of winning, New York had world class elite athletes brought in from top leagues all over the world, the biggest name was Thierry Henry, which I'm sure even a fair amount of non football fans have heard about, this was like if the US National team faced the Anaheim Ducks.

Also, check out Chris Wonolowski, he is the Earthquakes version of Jonathen Cheechoo during his Rocket Richard year. I believe he has the power to turn haters into lovers of the beautiful game.
Also, just to clarify, (because this pisses me off), if anyone says that the Giants are the first major sports team in Bay Area to win a championship since the 49ers in 94. Please smack them for me, because the Earthquakes won the MLS title in 2001 and 2003.
And hopefully we can had 2010 to that list.
