Toronto's Tomas Kaberle remains firm on his desire to stay with the Maple Leafs, so failing a sudden change of heart, he will not be submitting a list of teams he would consider waiving his no-trade clause to join.

Not too surprising, but somewhat sucky.
Maybe he is just waiting to waive it next year when his deal is almost up?

WHATEVER
Im totally over him now. After tonights game i’m not afraid of going into the playoffs with the team we have now. We played well against Detroit tonight and when we get Manny and Vlasic back we’ll be much better (not having terrible refs will help a ton too).
Meh. I thought the Sharks played a decent game, but Detroit controlled the last half. Nabokov’s performance this entire season, including tonight, has really masked some of the issues the team has.
If he continues this pace we’re in good hands. If not, I think we’ll be wishing DW had made an upgrade.

A win’s a win’s a win of course. Can’t complain too much about getting two points in The Joe.

Yeah an upgrade would still be nice if we can make a the right trade but i definitely think we have a shot at the cup even if we didn’t make any changes. Nabby played out of his mind tonight but if you were to throw Vlasic/Manny back in the lineup, and take out the terrible calls/non-calls, then you gotta think we would’ve looked a lot better tonight.
Oh for sure— the team is definitely a Cup contender, would probably still be one even without Vlasic/Malhotra. Not nearly as dangerous, but a contender nonetheless.
Nitpicking is what this comes down to really.

Honestly before this game i was worried if we even COULD beat Detroit and i felt like we NEEDED to make a roster change if wanted to have any success in the playoffs. For some reason, beating Detroit was all i needed to get confidence back in the sharkies. It wasn’t domination or anything but like i said, even with everything seemingly working against us (key players injured and terrible reffing) we pulled out the win.
That Hejda/Torres trade would still be awesome. Although i was wondering if any players would have a problem with Torres after the dirty hit he laid on Michalek; I’m sure they’d get over it but hopefully there isn’t any bad blood there.
Keep the Trade Target articles coming though. Nothing makes work go by faster than Rosterbating lol.
Down with Huskins, up with Demers! Ramble!!!
I say keep what we have. I was impressed with Wallin tonight as well. It looks as though he is still finding his legs on the ice with his new team but all in all I am pleased with the acquisition.
I would love to see Huskins out of the line up and Demers be given a shot down the line. That kid has certainly earned it and I think a few weeks towards the end of the season to get him really seasoned, in sync and off the Worcester shuttle he would be great. Demers seems to have much faster and smarter reactions than Huskins. Tired of disliking one of my Sharks it is unhealthy for my morale come April.
Let Blake, Leach and Murray focus on using their size shut down some bigger guys. Boyle, Wallin and Demers can spark some goals and assists from the blueline and with Vlasic in the mix I feel a lot better.
Also you can really feel Malhotra’s absence on the team especially with some of the prettier and quick offense I know we are capable of. I am kind of glad the break is coming up to let our guys get healthy.
On another note entirely, let’s hope Canada takes Vancouver so our top 4 don’t come back shamed and commit hockey suicide on the ice come playoffs…

I like Demers and he’s got tons of potential but man, there have been too many times where he’s fallen at critical moments or he’s turned the puck over when under pressure, for me to trust him in any real game. There have been a few goals that you can directly attribute to Demers falling or turning over the puck; one of which being the OT goal that cost us our last game against Chicago where Demers fell and his man had all the time/space in the world to put the puck in the back of the net.
I really don’t think it’s worth the risk to play Demers against a team like Chicago who are fast and good at putting on the pressure.
say what you will
But you kind of almost have to admire someone who’s not willing to waive his NTC even with the opp to move to a contender from a last-place team. Especially considering the fact that TOR is now backheavy with Phaneuf. I guess he really loves Toronto. Either way, I’m not too concerned that he’s likely off the market b/c I think the Sharks need a shutdown D more than they need another offensive D.
Man I wish we had a flying delorean and could whisk back 2002 Forsberg-pwning Scott Hannan. Although he’d be relatively ineffective anyway in the post-lockout NHL.

Joe Pavelski: Yeah, definitely.
