Its the End of the World as we Know it............

Many of us hear at Fear the Fin are optimistic about the Sharks chances come playoffs.  We take each game with a one game at a time approach, were for the most part rational and optimistic.  However, some people (not necissarily from this site) are pessimistic and screaming doomsday every time the Sharks lose a game.  Other teams' fans have lambasted the Sharks and said they will be an easy draw in the playoffs.  Nevermind for the past week we've been with out OUR TWO BEST FREAKIN' DEFENSEMAN!!!!!!!!!!!  So I have prepared some songs for those people.

Star-divide

For those of you screaming doomsday after every loss, this is what I hear:

R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, don’t misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn’t coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it’ll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o’clock - TV hour. Don’t get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mountains sit in a line.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

For those of you that just a little extra motivation to get through some tough games:

Move Along

Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)

When everything is wrong, we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
[x3]

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along

For those of us who remain at least fairly optimistic and keep it all in perspective:

End Of The Line

Well it's all right, riding around in the breeze
Well it's all right, if you live the life you please
Well it's all right, doing the best you can
Well it's all right, as long as you lend a hand

You can sit around and wait for the phone to ring (End of the Line)
Waiting for someone to tell you everything (End of the Line)
Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring (End of the Line)
Maybe a diamond ring

Well it's all right, even if they say you're wrong
Well it's all right, sometimes you gotta be strong
Well it's all right, As long as you got somewhere to lay
Well it's all right, everyday is Judgment Day

Maybe somewhere down the road aways (End of the Line)
You'll think of me, wonder where I am these days (End of the Line)
Maybe somewhere down the road when somebody plays (End of the Line)
Purple haze

Well it's all right, even when push comes to shove
Well it's all right, if you got someone to love
Well it's all right, everything'll work out fine
Well it's all right, we're going to the end of the line

Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive (End of the Line)
I'm glad to be here, happy to be alive (End of the Line)
It don't matter if you're by my side (End of the Line)
I'm satisfied

Well it's all right, even if you're old and gray
Well it's all right, you still got something to say
Well it's all right, remember to live and let live
Well it's all right, the best you can do is forgive

Well it's all right, riding around in the breeze
Well it's all right, if you live the life you please
Well it's all right, even if the sun don't shine
Well it's all right, we're going to the end of the line

We all passionate about are hockey team.  That's great, its good to analyze a little bit, both the good and bad.  But, we shouldn't let us consume us and turn us into doomsdayers.  If anyone has other songs they think would be good fits, please let us know.

And on an unrelated note...........

I think B*tch Please, I'm Dan F*cking Boyle should be changed to B*tch Please, I'm Dan F*cking Boyle and you must respect my Authorita!

Even though the Sharks currently own the NHL's best win% at .723

They’re 10-13 vs Western playoff teams.

Now I’m going to be singing REM all night. But since I can’t remember the lyrics I just yell “laalalanananananlalaanana…oooh chorus, it’s the end of the world as we know it!…”

"Sorry guys, I’m not going to try and hit (Douglas) Murray anymore. It doesn’t work." - Steve Ott, Dallas Stars.

Ryan Garner

I am assuming that is who this is about. And yes, I agree. I wish he would move along. Best thing to do is just not read what he has to say.

Good god

I read some of his dreck recently, because I’d subscribed to the feed via Google Reader when I came across it early in the season — I was all for listening to as many wires as I could find.

I removed my subscription from that when I realized that all he can say is, “We lost? The Sharks can’t make it past round 1!” or “We won? What a joke, they still won’t get past round 1.” Urgh.
