I was looking on the Worcester home page and reading their weekly release…
Rookie Alex Stalock leads the AHL with 35 wins and 1st in minutes played with 3086 and 3rd in saves with 1316…only 11 goalies have won 40 games in the AHL and just once in the last 45 years (Ryan Miller won 40 with Rochester in 2004-05)… Stalock has surpassed Thomas Greiss (30 wins in 2008-09) for most wins by a Sharks goaltender in a season in franchise history. Stalock looks to become the first rookie goaltender in AHL history to record 40 wins.

I really hope he gets those last 5 wins. That would be such a great accomplishment, and a testament to both how good the Worcester Sharks are and how good Al Stalock is.

Is Stalock good enough to replace Nabby if he’s gone after this season?
Randy Hahn: "I’ve been referred to as a playa…"
He has no NHL experience, so if the worst case scenario happens and Nabby walks, he’ll be Greiss’s backup if the Sharks decide to not sign a vet. He can win the starting job, like he did in Worcester this season and like how Nabokov did it in 00-01, but he’ll be backup if anything. Chances are, he’ll still be in Worcester next season.

He’ll certainly have the opportunity to win those 5 games, they start him 9 out of 10 times. I sorta feel bad for Sexsmith, but I have a lot of hope for Stalock.

Isn’t Sexsmith out for the rest of the season? IIRC, he had a lingering injury throughout the whole season he’s been trying to play through, and finally decided to get surgery or sit out to let it heal or something. Doyle is the backup for the WorSharks now.

No way Nabby signs a 1 year contract, not after this season.
He’ll want at least 3 years and if he doesn’t get it with the Sharks he’ll go somewhere else.

So this is the discussion I’ve been having. No way Greiss is ready next year. So if Stalock isn’t also and he is the guy they are looking to then who is starter next year?
I know Nabby won’t want the short contract but I see DW trying to sign him to one.

So the Flyers seem to be in a bit of a bind here. As you know, Emery’s hurt. Well, now Leighton (their new starter) is as well. As is their starter in the AHL. So they have Boucher for their starter, and then either their AHL backup or ECHL starter to back up Boucher, who hasn’t started a game since December 21.
Times like these make me thankful for our goalie depth. And that McLellan, for all his overplaying Nabokov, still gives Greiss starts occasionally.

I'm back from work
I boarded the train around 5:10, which is coincidentally when my pocket radio ran out of battery. Then, when I got back to San Jose, I forgot about the game and listened to radio music on the drive home.
After turning on the TV and seeing the score, I think I didn’t miss much.
Rusanowsky just pointed out the pattern of allowing three goals in a period.

Well the Sharks for the first 30 minutes didn’t play that bad (compared to previous games) but I imagine it must feel like shit playing with a scoring gap so wide.

Yeah…I just can’t help feeling like we’re going to enter the playoffs with zero momentum because we just play like this for the next few weeks. Then we’ll face a team, like the Ducks of last season who spent this period playing their asses off just to make the playoffs, and therefore have an absurd amount of momentum. And then we’ll get worked. Just like last season.

Well, at least they have a game soon so they can put this behind them. Maybe the team needed this to realize the way they had been playing was unacceptable. They have bounced back pretty well from very lopsided losses during the season and I hope they do the same Thursday.
