Logan Couture possibly called up to San Jose
[Editor's Note]: Confirmed with Worcester Sharks PR Representative Eric Lundquist.

Hey Fear The Fin I was listening to the Worcester Sharks radio broadcast tonight and they mentioned that Logan Couture was being called up to play against Vancouver tomorrow night. We recently have been on a four game win streak that got snapped so it hurts to lose him before playoffs but the big boys need him right now so that's that I guess. I don't have a link for you like you mentioned you would like when we talked last month but I can assure you this isn't being made up.

This is nothing but good news.
TCY and I have been big fans of Logan Couture for a good long time, and my wonderful blogging partner even bought a jersey earlier this year at the same time I acquired a McGinn Black Armor.
We're pretty cute like that.
At any rate, business. I previously called for Couture to get the nod once the trade deadline had passed, stating that he would be a good fit as a third line center with McGinn and Clowe. TCY reiterated that point in an article two days later, stating that McGinn and Couture could be the key to the San Jose Sharks playoff success.
In an interview with Fear The Fin over the Olympic break, Jamie McGinn mentioned chemistry when speaking about his former Ottawa 67 teammate.
"He is one of those guys where I seem to know where he is on the ice at all times, and he knows where I am," said McGinn. "He just seems to be able to put the puck in the net and be able to put it on my stick and vice versa. It's nice to have that."
In summation, I really like this move. The Sharks need a kick in the pants right now after struggling after the Olympic break, and a new addition to the lineup will hopefully allow Todd McLellan to establish some consistent lines before the playoffs. Here is what I would like to see tomorrow night:
Dany Heatley - Joe Thornton - Devin Setoguchi
Patrick Marleau - Joe Pavelski - Manny Malhotra
Jamie McGinn - Logan Couture - Ryane Clowe
Jed Ortmeyer - Scott Nichol - Torrey Mitchell
Could this be the catalyst San Jose needs? Tune in tomorrow to find out.
Go Sharks.

Maybe Doug Wilson caught up on his FTF reading…

We should start a petition to send to DW to demand he cut Brad Staubitz….

Best Options
I still think Marleau-Pavelski-Mitchell as the number two line is the best option. With Couture-McGinn-Malhotra and Ortmeyer-Nichol-Clowe. It spreads out the scoring and the size but keeps chemistry in place. Obviously you’d keep the top line the way it is with Setoguchi.
Yeah i definitely feel like Malhotra would be perfect with Couture and Mcginn. Malhotra covers any possible weaknesses they might have at first (faceoffs and defense) and he’s just a damn good player who can really jumpstart the two of them.
Normally i’d say Clowe should be on the second line with Patty and Pavs but Mitchells been looking better lately imo; and i wouldn’t mind seeing him on that second line. Plus I think Clowe’s a good fit with Ortmeyer and Nichol too.
Either way would be good but i really think Malhotra should be with Mcginn and Couture.
Couture?
Yes please! It would be awesome to see him called up! And even more awesome if they don’t stick him on the effing 4th line…

Beautiful
I have never been more on board with you than with those lines Plank. I know I’ve advocated keeping HTML together, but maybe they work better as a surprise attack or on the PP.
That 2nd line would go up against the Datsyuk’s and Toews of the world (along with Vlasic’s pairing). Couture and McGinn get bumped off the puck a little right now, but it allows an excuse to have Clowe hold the puck on the side boards as he is wont to do.
That 4th line is perfect. Hustle and grit. Mitchell really makes it go, allows them to maybe stretch teams a little, and wouldn’t be heart attack central if Zetterburg finds himself against that 4th line.
Most importantly… give em a chance to gel. You know that 1st and 2nd line are gonna produce. Give the 3rd and 4th line 10-12 minutes each of ice time for a few games and see what they do with it.

You, my rose
Oh how your undertow
Drags me willingly to the shores of satisfaction
And yet, my rose

The reasons why those line combinations above have got me sporting wood at 4:30 in the morning while pulling an all-nighter for final exams
