Around SBN: MLB Trade Rumors: Edwin Jackson to the White Sox, DC next?

Hate to keep piling on the boys right now, but here's a good article that ties in with what TCY and I have been saying all season-- Evgeni Nabokov has played way above his head behind a below average blueline.

Second Guessing everything...

Right now.. its safe to say, that the mood is of a negative nature. In my house, we are doing anything to get the momentum changed.
Does our Defense miss Vlasic that much? Is it the addition of Wallin? Or is it Boyle consistantly moving up to play offense (which is his style, Risk Vs. Reward).
I Personally feel its leadership, and its something this team has never had. Not Since Owen Nolan, had we had someone Gritty, Stout… and just plain WONT take this crap anymore.
SO… if we fall to third or Fourth in the West, the Demise of the Sharks will be will publisized.
I am no looking forward to that!
I say, Nabokov goes back to the Skeleton Mask, thats the answer. (I wish it was that easy)

I think losing Vlasic has hit us harder more than a lot of people realize. If and when he comes back on the road trip, we will be much more solid defensively.

Vlasic is absolutely key to this team. To be fair though, the defense hasn’t been a bright spot all season.

Eh… never a fan of Nolan or his leadership. The Shark’s 04 run was led by some veteran leadership on the forward lines: Damphousse and Ricci. I wish we still had a Mike Ricci on the roster.

Every Sharks team could use a Mike Ricci. In the early aughts we should have frozen him like Walt Disney.

It’s always dangerous to look just at the overall stats, especially with streaky goalies like Nabokov.

I hope I’m wrong, but with every game I’m starting to feel like Nabokov’s current season will be characterized as two seasons – pre-Olympics and post-Olympics. He hasn’t been the same since that fateful historic 30 minutes of play against Canada.

And I don’t buy that Olympics fatigue argument that the media and Drew R is trying to sell to us – Nabokov played 2.5 games in two weeks of Winter Olympics, including a game against Latvia. How can that be tiring?

Fear the Fin - all Evgeni, all the time.

Ahhhh Yes Ricci

Shadrak is right, it’s the mask. Post-skeleton mask Nabokov has not looked good. Pre-nippleless angry joe mask, he was a Vezina-caliber god.

How do you know that Nabokov is streakier than any other goalie?

Because we have all watched him play for the last 6 years!

Interesting...

I’m just going to ignore the rest of the article and only like the part where it says Nabokov has been playing really good.
