Fry them in butter. Then add more butter. Finish with pancetta and butter.

Oof. Have fun with that. I had a question for you on Japers’ but you apparently weren’t around. I heard something about Kesler saying that Luongo was fighting the puck in the gold medal game and that Luongo took exception. Can you give me some more detail? Did Luongo actually think he played a good game?

the big problem was that TSN misquoted Kesler afterwards, so that’s what caused a little bit of stress in the media.

can’t quite remember. he did say something about how luongo was playing, and about how he didn’t like team canada. TSN just exagerrated his comments and caused a scuffle that’s already been resolved.

Boyle has won a Cup and a gold since the lock out and Marleau has won a playoff series and a gold since the lock out… I’m not sure what you’re saying exactly.

Technically, Boyle’s Cup was before the lockout. And I don’t think he’s won a playoff series since the lockout. But he’s still Dan Fucking Boyle.

He would. But he’s still only Dan Fucking Boyle. Green is a better player. I thought the Sharks hadn’t won a playoff series since the last year before the lockout. My bad, they lost to DET in the second round the year ANA won. Lockout isn’t really arbitrary because a) the game changed with the cap and the rules and b) Green wasn’t in the league yet.

Yeah, but I don’t see how that matters to his play on the ice. I mean, Dany Heatley seems like a gigantic douche bag off the ice, but he’s sweet hockey player. I just said that Green is a great hockey player, not that I want to go to Vegas with him.

Oh yeah, I think Seto is actually a pretty big douche as well from what I hear at times. Heater definitely had his douche moments this summer. I think much like Greens defensive weakness, his amount of doucheness this summer is overstated.
I’m just stating what that site conveys to me.
"Douglas Murray is a humongous human being." – Drew Remenda
I agree as well. I rolled my eyes and clicked the “x” the first time I saw it. Haven’t really bothered to go back. His personality is not my style, but I don’t really have a hard time separating athletes from their personal lives. I’ve rooted for plenty of douche bags in my time.

just comparing doucheiness, its extra douchey to have a website as a tribute to your generic ink. Yeah, Seto and Heater are pretty douchie with the soul patches, but that does not in it of itself signal D-bag.
Look, I don’t really care, and I definitely don’t want to get into a “your douche bag is worse than my douche bag” argument. I was just pointing out that there are douche bags on all teams, and pointing out that Mike Green is a douche bag is really irrelevant in the grand scheme of hockey. He’s the best offensive defenseman in the game and will end up winning a Norris at some point.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

All teams have at least one douche bag. I rooted for Barry Bonds, and I know he was a douche bag at least some of the time (I heard he was super-nice to Giants fans, not-so-nice to everyone else). I’m pretty sure Seto is a douche, and my boy Mitchell might be one too (although, he has been less and less worthy of being called “my boy” with every game). Patrick Kane strikes me as one as well. It happens when you combine young 20-somethings with millions of dollars.
A douche is a douche, but as long as they play well and don’t mess up the locker room, I’m fine with them.

Hey, I’m just teasing. I know its completely irrelevant. Hell, we could say all of professional sports irrelevant, but I won’t go there.
So back to hockey, I’ve seen Green play a few time, some in person, and I have not been impressed with his ability to shut down other top forwards. Yserman probably thought the same.
Ehh, if some of your sample size is based on when the Caps come to the Tank, that’s probably not very representative. Caps suck in HP Pavilion. Something like a 13 or 14 year losing streak there.

As mymclife said, Caps are terrible in the Tank (although he didn’t play in the game last year). Yzerman obviously thought that Green wasn’t good enough defensively, that’s pretty clear. But if you watched the Olympics, Nieds and Pronger weren’t very good, Boyle was a non-factor outside the Russia game, Seabrook got separated from Keith and got very little ice (how about that for chemistry) and Doughty and Weber carried that team. If Green had made it they would have been fine and still won Gold.
His defensive lapses are far overstated because how obvious and high profile they are when they happen. He also doesn’t play D the way people traditionally think of it. He doesn’t throw huge hits, or play nasty, or clear the crease. He does it with his speed. He gets to loose pucks so fast that there is never a puck battle. So people see it and it doesn’t even look like defense. It just looks like Mike Green picking up the puck and going to play offense. The bottom line is that hockey is about out-scoring the other team. And when Green is on the ice the Caps out-score the opposition drastically. He gets it done, even if he won’t get the credit for it. Dude is most certainly not Sandis Ozolinsh.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

Ah
Then I apologize. Green’s pretty good (could be better defensively, but then again, Marleau could not pass to Habs, can’t have everything apparently)
Mostly I love the Down Goes Brown video of the Canadians welcoming the other teams to the olympics.
"Douglas Murray is a humongous human being." – Drew Remenda
DGB is hysterical. Almost everything he does is gold. Green could be better defensively, but he’s real young and already pretty good. The defensive liability stuff is way overstated. He makes some high profile gaffes when his risky offensive stuff doesn’t work, but in the big picture he’s very good in his own end. Are you familiar with Alan Ryder’s analysis?

Leach and Huskins....
Anybody else wish Demers was still up? It seems like our blue line just isn’t cutting it for Nabby as he tries to find his groove again…definitely still some stuff from the Olympics in the back of his head.
Don’t think Demer’s improves our defense defensively anyway.
"Douglas Murray is a humongous human being." – Drew Remenda
I think somebody said it several games ago, but Leach sorta plays to the level of his partner. If he’s with Blake or Pickles he looks really good.
If he’s with Huskins… not so much.

Sure he makes some mistakes being as young as he is, but his presence on the penalty kill and his overall play is a lot better then Jay Leach.

People like Jurcina because he’s a nice guy and he’s a locker room favorite. I don’t think he’s particularly great but he’s good on the bottom pair. He was okay. I think he could have done better on coverage for one of the TB goals (Downie’s? Not sure) but for the most part, he threw his body around and had some offense from the point. He’s got a nice slapshot. I’d like to see him more on the powerplay with Green, but for now BB’s tinkering a lot, so we’ll see what happens.

AO and Green are on the top unit playing the points, and I don’t see that changing. I’d love to see Corvo get time on PP2, but AO and Green almost always take the full 2 minutes. 1:30 at least and normally don’t think of coming off until 1:45.

Get out of my head! I’ve been saying that forever. I want Green reading the play and finding the open spots. Then have a guy with a booming slap shot at the top of the zone, where Pronger hung out, and let AO play like Getzlaf where he plays up high sometimes but also floats to the bottom of the circles. But I’m not the coach.
