Go higher seeds! Lots of game 1 upsets, in Game 2 the real teams win. The exception being Phoenix, its hard to root against them, and it’s not really clear who the upsettor/upsettee is there anyway.

I only caught the 3rd +OT
I swear the Kings played as bad as the Sharks while I was watching. They just sucked except for that almost goal in the OT period.

The Sedins are really good… then they don’t have much scoring punch beyond that.
The Kings have a style of play that can limit one line and shut them down with Doughty and Scuderi on the back end.

The first and second periods were awesome. Back and forth, multiple hits, intensity. It had everything. The Kings got caught in the trap in the 3rd, but they stepped it up in OT, i thought…and almost won.

I had to go read the Sens board. They said had it been Ruutu on Crosby, definitely a penalty. All in all they weren’t too buggered by it. I suppose they’ve faced the Pens enough times they’ve come to terms with it.

Wow…the refs have been fucking the Caps today. No pp’s for the Caps, two for the Habs. Now they get screwed out of a goal by a hand pass called on the Caps, even though the Habs passed it with their hands. Man, they, after this period, actually have a beef…

Well, the NHL is supposed to…but as in every sport, refs are never held accountable, for fear of hurting the integrity of the sport, or some shit. Reffing has been all over the map this playoffs, so far. Sadly, today, it’s been screwing the Caps. The Sharks v. Avs have had ridiculous amounts of no-calls in both directions, but at least its been even. Yikes.

The integrity of the sport is hurt more by lack of holding refs accountable … but that is just my little ole opinion

That’s the funny thing, right? When the refs are piss poor and hurt individual games, it really does hurt the integrity of the sport. But the NHL calling out their own officials, and admitting that the refs might have cost a team a game or two opens up a can of worms that can also hurt the integrity of the game…
It would be nice to see certain refs (coughchrisleecough) held accountable by not being placed in situations that their ineptitude can affect important games. But most sports are scared to go down that road, for some reason.

Reffing in the playoffs
I don’t understand why refereeing changes in the playoffs. Why do they let more calls go? Special teams is a part of the game. Letting calls go changes the type of hockey being played and penalizes certain teams and their styles. I hate it.
I guess they don’t want the refs to decide the games…which is a misconception, because missing calls decide games just as much as making calls do. It definately helps goonish teams like Anaheim…

Anyone catch the Versus intermission report there? They were talking about last night’s Chicago v. Nashville game…and they said not one word about Nashville. They spent the entire time talking about how awesome Chicago’s kids looked. Sharp, Kane, and Toews. They combined for 1 goal (the only goal of the game). And yet when Thornton, Marleau, and Heatley would be ripped to shreds if they only scored 1 goal and the Sharks lost 4-1. The double standard is sad.
