Ortmeyer a Masterton finalist
Nice news for Sharks fans - Jed Ortmeyer has been named as one of the finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player "who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey". Ortmeyer was nominated for his continuing to play game while having to receive treatments for his heart condition. The other finalists include the Capitals' Jose Theodore (who came back from his infant son dying) and the Lightning's Kurtis Foster (who you'll remember as the guy whose leg got broken by Torrey Mitchell when Mitchell hit him from behind after an icing). One Shark has previously won the Masterton - Tony Granato in 1997, when he made a comeback with the Sharks after suffering a brain injury the previous season.
