It looks like the Canadiens lost Gill, who has been a pivotal cog in their trap, shot blocking and PK. The HAHAHabs are done if he and Spacek don’t skate game 6 unless Fleury reveals himself to be the mediocre goalie he really is that benefits from playing on a team with 2 of the biggest stars in the NHL.
Unfortunately, the Bruins are not going to fare better in the East conference finals as with their luck, Rask and Thomas will get injured by a fluke shot from Blair Betts that shatters Rask’s nose and Thomas’ slinky spine and they’ll have to dress whomever they have patrolling the crease in Providence.

The Bruins have had horrible luck this year.
(I swear, the Pens must have contacts in the supernatural world somehow.)
Meanwhile, Fleury halak’ed the Habs last night, who had over 35 shots but only got one in.
In any case, I plan to attend a game at the arena in the park of the next team to eliminate the Pens from the SC finals and will root for that team. So, if the Bruins can pull off the improbable, I’ll make a trip to the Gahden next year.

Indeed, while the year has been disappointing in the regular season standings after the tremendous result from last year, there’s only been 6 games where the Bruins have dressed their expected full roster all year. And for most of the season they’ve been down 2 top 6 forwards, and a top 4 D man. Right now, they are down 2 top 6 (Sturm, Krejci) and a top 2 D man (Seidenberg).
Fleury is an overrated goalie. He played ok but the Habs have little O and barely pressure the Pens D. Replace Lundqvist with him on the Rangers and they go from a playoff bubble team to a draft lottery pick for the first overall selection.
I wonder if the Habs would consider calling Laracques and asking if he’s ever played Defense as at this point they need bodies.

I’m not so sure about that. Game 7 against Calgary was about as big as it gets. The series may have been a first round one but to assume the worth of a series is tied directly to the round in which it is played is to disregard many a well fought round.

AWESOME GAME!!! The Tank was LOUD AS SHIT all night. The fans really brought it. During the pregame video packages, they put up the SI Survey results that had HP as the hardest place for opponents to play in. And when they did that, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the place louder!

But they said “you know, things like this tend to even out…earlier in the game…” and they showed Murray getting just absolutely mugged a couple times. Yeah, I mean I see what you’re saying, definitely. I just think that Jumbo, Patty and Nabby knew that their time was now. I normally take most hockey pundits with a grain of salt, but one thing I did agree with was their assertion that while the 2nd line was enough to carry us against Colorado, we were completely screwed against a team like Detroit unless the top line started producing. And boy, did they produce.

That we couldn’t just rely on our 2nd line, but I think it really has to do with the fact that they were not going to stay that absurdly hot forever and someone else needed to pick up that impending “slack” (obvious candidates being the top line). The first line definitely picked it up the last few games, but I don’t think it’s because they felt or knew they had to. They’re great players and they had a great few games.
I have no doubt that they’re giving 100% every night, just some weeks bounces go your way and some weeks they don’t.

Agreed. The offense was the issue…not the defense. Semin’s disappearance was much more of an issue.
