Salary Cap Increase
Looks like the salary cap for the next season has been increased by roughly 3 million (something like 56ish million to 59ish million, sorry I'm too lazy to look for the numbers after the decimal point).
Combined with that fact and the fact that Evgeni Nabokov will no longer be a San Jose Shark, at least for 1 year, what are the odds that we will have a deep blue line to go along with our solid 2 forward lines? Or do you guys think that all this cap space will make up for the fact that Pavelski, Setoguchi, and Marleau need new contracts?
It's also interesting to note that the Blackhawks dumped Byfuglien and Eager/Sopel to Atlanta for a bunch of draft picks and what could be a very interesting roster add in Marty Reasoner. With the extra cap space and early draft picks, does Chicago have a chance of re-stacking the team and becoming the next dynasty team as the Red Wings fall, or will, like most experts predicted before all of this happened, the Blackhawks have won their one Stanley Cup due to the fact that they had more depth than anyone else in the league and this off-season they will be one of the most downgraded teams in the league?
