Skatemarks on the Ice

One night Seto dreamed he was skating across the ice with Blakey.
Many scenes from the game flashed across the jumbotron.
In each replay Seto noticed skatemarks on the ice.
Sometimes there were two sets of skatemarks,
other times there were one set of skatemarks.

This bothered Seto because he noticed
that during the low periods of his game,
when he was suffering from
exhaustion, blocked shots, or crushing bodychecks,
he could see only one set of skatemarks.

So he said to the Captain,
"You promised me
that if I followed you,
you would skate with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of this game
there have only been one set of skatemarks on the ice.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?"

Blakey replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of skatemarks on the ice,
is when I carried you."
