Kicking in during the 2011-2012 season, Jason Demers will make $1.25MM per year. A good contract for a good young offensive defenseman that could turn out to be Dan Boyle's replacement. Phenomenal on the power play, and with a full year in the NHL under his belt, hopefully the defensive responsibility will come along as well.

Wondering if all this news is going on because they may have started to figure out a solution for a top d-man, and they’re trying to solidify the team now that they’re more clear on what they’re doing??

I HOPE, anyways..

Nah, Seto and Joslin still need to sign… that’s about it though. Maybe Jumbo signing an extension as well.

Agree. 21 points in 51 games is pretty much Errorhoff numbers replaced if the kid stays for 82 games.

I wonder if we could end up seeing him as our 2nd pair puck mover this season. If not, he’s still a good 3rd pairing mover.

I'm now officially worried that our pairings are

Vlasic-Wallin
Boyle-Murray
Demers-Huskins

And they are going to stay that way…

What? Because we resigned someone who we were still counting on having anyway?

We might see:

Boyle-Murray
Vlasic-Demers
Wallin-Huskins

I like it.

But I’m pretty upset that I had to make a post on this at SBNBA right when my pizza got here. so -1 Sharks.

Good deal.

Could be a steal 2 years from now. And at worst, it’s still a minor contract.

What's this? A signing?

A defender? Sweet!

Chris Andersen could be in a porno with his 'stache. Too bad he still wouldn't know how to box out.

As everyone else is saying, FTF is on new overload today? Been quiet all summer (thank you Kovy for providing me loads of entertainment) and now 4 posts in one day. woohoo!! You realize, you are now obligated to keep this up (yeah right huh?).

On to the topic, good news! Not that I had any doubt the Sharks would do something this summer, but glad to see some Sharks news happening.

I think all this news has to do with Morti ditching the Palin mask.

I have a baby now

so the internet is taking a backseat to baby giggles which I would prefer not to miss.

Unless we can get Idunno in a baby romper, that’s the way it’s going to be!

Nice

Great deal for a young talented defenseman. I thought he showed a lot of improvement in the playoffs (mostly because he just didn’t make any egregious errors like he would during the regular season) and i think he’s gonna be damn good for us next season.

I’m excited about Demers, I think he has real potential. Yayyyy.

by ninakix on Jul 29, 2010 11:09 PM PDT reply actions

Good deal...

Lock him up and see if he develops into anything special. If he does, we reup him with a healthy raise in a few years…if not, there’s not much sunk cost. Good stuff…

I love this deal for the Sharks, given the potential ice time Demers could log with some defensive improvement and the offensive upside he brings. Three cheers for another Sharks-grown late-round draft pick.

like everyone else said

Yay for Sharks Nooz

I like Demers a lot, I think this deal will turn out great for the Sharks.
His play as a rookie last year has me really excited for his potential greatness with more NHL level experience. He will be a highly coveted D-man by the time this contract expires in 2013.

Dude, lemme getchur keys.
