Fear the Fin Live: Episode 1 - Friday, July 9th @ 6PM
Believe it or not, we actually got a substantial amount of positive feedback about the Fear the Fin Late Night Confidential video we threw together while at the NHL Draft two weeks ago. Two men with great hair, on a twin bed, in one of the seediest parts of Downtown LA, touched the masses. We've gotten multiple requests for more vblogs, but sadly, we don't live close enough to eachother to make that an option. It was a glorious, one time, event.
However, because of the demand and our infatuation with hearing ourselves talk, we've decided to start Podcasting on a semi-regular basis.
Our first show will be held on Friday at 6:00 PM. We're going to be discussing a bevy of issues, including free agency, the trade market, the captaincy etc. The only reason we bring this up today is because we'll be using TalkShoe; we're planning on taking calls and questions for the second half of the show.
We'll have a widget here on the site, and will also provide the call in number. Please call, tweet, or comment with any question you have, and we'll do our best to answer it. Questions such as "What are you wearing" are flattering, but not necessarily what we're looking for. Keep the questions Shark based, and imagine us dressed however you please.
We'd go with lederhosen, but that's us.
Go Sharks.

I believe this meets the requirements.

Good idea guys … and I have a question (guess I could google it, but nevermind). It’s not so much Sharks related, but is hockey related.
In the NHL the drive for the players is the Stanley Cup. What is the drive in the KHL? Is there any really or is it that the players can just keep playing really for more money? Just seems the dynamics of who plays in each is different and I’m wondering if the KHL is trying to be “the” league to go to and if it ever will achieve that without the Stanley Cup.
Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality?

That would actually be a better question for Ivan, he’ll get to it eventually.

Gagarin Cup is the equivalent of the Stanley Cup. But it’s not as hard to win as the Stanley Cup. KHL is still dominated by the rich. They have a salary cap, but the teams are allowed to go over it, provided they pay a 75% penalty by how much they went over to the KHL fund. So if you’re a team funded by an oil or gas company where owners just throw money for the fun of it, they can easily assemble a squad like SKA St Petersburg where payroll is likely 3-4 times higher than in other clubs.
Anyway – back to your question. I have no idea what young people like Kabanov grow up wanting to win since they grow up in the era where Russia actually sucked in hockey. But kids of my generation (I’m hitting 30 this year) grew up dreaming of winning Olympic gold. When I was a kid skating early in the morning all alone on the rink next to my house, I always imagined playing at the Olympics and scoring a winning goal there, even when I was already watching NHL at night.

Sounds good. I will BE THERE.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
Hopefully one day
you guys will get paid for what you do. I hit FTF multiple times per day since I discovered it and I appreciate the hell out of what you guys do.
I'll drink that! oh...I'll drink TO that, oh crap I quit drinking.
Hey guys, if you think of it...
don’t forget to mention the Blocker signing event @ Peggy Sue’s on Sunday…

On that note...
… please feel free to extend beyond the FTF crew if you know people that are interested. I didn’t post this on the Sharks.nhl forum, but if people know others that want to partake, I’m OK with it.

Feel free to call in tomorrow. We’ll give you a minute to mention it “on the air”

Speaking of mentioning it on the air,
I’ll bring it up on my show Saturday morning.

I do a radio show on 90.5 KSJS 2-6 am.
It’s mostly just me playing ska, punk and other rock, but also me making “that’s what she said” jokes and other random nuggets of wisdom.

Amongst all our anxiety about our defense, we can all be thankful that Marleau is better than LeBron
