Sharks' Joe Thornton looking to stay in San Jose
Joe Thornton has fallen hard for the San Jose lifestyle. And that's funny considering he didn't even think it was possible for him to be here in the first place.
Nothing would make me happier.

Joe Thornton man crush engage.
These are the things that make legends as opposed to just great players. Joe Thornton could have come here and been a great player and we would all love him the same as we do now. But it’s when us fans hear things like this from our beloved players, that this is the only place they want to play, and it’s the likes of Joe Thornton saying it, that is how they become engraved into our hearts.
So I’ll be the first, and definitely not the last to say, Joe Thornton we are honored to have you play for us, the greatest hockey fans in the league, and hope you are here for the rest of your career. raises glass
Dude, lemme getchur keys.
For everyone who thought he hasn't been here long enough to go up on Mt. Puckmore
Suck it!

OnDubs already captured most of what I want to say. It’s fantastic to hear about a player that enjoys living here, especially when it’s one of the best players on the team. Hopefully next Joe will buy a downtown restaurant and give Owen Nolan a run for his money after they both retire.
And on this note:
And the family has grown with the birth of its first child, daughter Ayla, on July 14.
Congrats to the Thorntons for the off-season addition!

Thornton and his wife rode down my street on beach cruisers recently. I’d say he likes the SJ lifestyle.

I like the quote:
I’ve had the good contracts. I’ve gotten all the points. I’m just playing for a Cup now.
Is that his way of saying he doesn’t care about the money, and that he’ll be signing a lifetime deal at a 500k cap hit?? My fingers are crossed…lol
Who is this guy? Pass, no thanks!
JK :) cant wait to lock him up to an extension; im guessing 4 years to match Marleau’s
3 years would match Maelreau’s, Pavelski’s, and I think Heatley’s and Boyle’s too…

No…both marleau and Pav’s signed 4 year deals this offseason

the way i was thinking it, if theres an extension this year its a 4 year extension to match the length, but maybe thats just the wrong wording choice…

an extension implies you’re adding it on to the current contract. Thornton is under contract this season, he will be a UFA next offseason while Marleau and Pavs have 3 years left on their contracts. if Jumbo signs a 3 year extension during this season or just signs a new contract next offseason (essentially the same thing) all of their contracts will expire the same offseason.

I'm a huge Thornton fan...
So, this is pretty awesome to me. Sign him up, make him captain, and I’ll be a happy camper!

Man, I love Joe.
The only thing that could have endeared him to me more is if he did this interview naked, with Slappy, while throwing in a few Woolly Mammoths references along the way.

When the Sharks win the cup
He needs to ride a mechanical woolly mammoth down the parade route with the Cup. Don’t tell me it isn’t possible, San Jose has enough engineers, not like they’re doing anything more worthwhile than this.

Just kidding. I love JT as a person so even if he’s lacking as a cornerstone player I want to have him around. Put the right wingers with him and they will bring his game up.
This comment irritates me on a multitude of levels

I'd like to see Thornton stay here in San Jose
It’s a great place. The fans are awesome. The team is a Championship contending team. What more could you ask for?

It's gotta be great to be Joe Thornton
Have loved him from day one! Making him captain will be the icing on the cake!

hey guys i gotta question for you
who the hell is John Thornton
He plans on being part of it. John Thornton said he began talks with Sharks general manager Doug Wilson in early July about another extension. (Thornton previously signed a three-year extension in 2007.) Ayla’s birth put the discussion on the back burner, but the Thorntons both sound confident a deal will happen.
Said John Thornton: “We’re moving in the right direction.”
“He just loves it there,” said John Thornton, his brother and agent. “I could see him spending the rest of his life in San Jose.”
Same agency that represents Rick Nash, Wojtek Wolski, and Logan Couture to name a few.
Hah yeah stupid me i was skimming it thought he made a mistake

His broseph and agent.
Don't let the name deceive you, I'm not just a Sharks fan but a Lakers, 49ers, Angels, Giants (and to a lesser extent) Capitals, and Titans fan.

Hmmm
I would hope since his agent’s cut stays in the family he’d give us a bit of a discount, but if management tries to get too stingy I will be PISSED.
