Jamal Mayers inks one year deal with San Jose

According to Andy Strickland, Jamal Mayers has signed a one year deal with the San Jose Sharks. According to Strickland, the deal is worth $600,000. Mayers split time with the Flames and Maple Leafs last season. He's billed as a big bodied energy winger who skates well and "can" (note sarcasm) kill penalties, but he's 35 and screams "reclamation project" a-la Scott Nichol last year. Don't expect more than fourth line minutes.
